Mesh Lid idea
I did one very similiar. Although i used pvc instead of anything metal.
Works very we'll and haven't had any of my fish jump yet and i have a large amount of wrasse's. Found the netting at homedepot after searching for something that was small enough but wasn't going to melt under the lights. Works really we'll:) |
Photos?
What type of netting did you use? Agreed, pics would also be nice.
I am at work. But when i get home i will take it off and post some photo's.
I will also have to look at home for the bag that the net came in. I believe it was used to keep birds out of your garden. |
Neat idea. I like that better than eggcrate that's for sure!
The netting used in the link is called clear knotted bird netting.
I made a lid out of nylon mesh from Rona. It comes in different sizes, and is quite cheap. I made a frame out of wood and attached the mesh to it. Works great.
doesnt that affect the amount of lighting going to the tank just curious.
I wonder, which method egg crate or mesh has the most effect on the lighting?
Eggcrate easily. Its thicker and it directs the light only downward through the holes.
i was thinking to extend the height of my tank about 4 inches with eggcrate, that would hopefully stop mos fish jumping out, and not block any light?
has anyone tryed that before |
You might have more success with the reflective eggcrate, but I'm not sure if it will heat up, or have a reaction to the salt water.
