JULY 2008: EA Photo Contest - REEF FAVORITES
Welcome once again to another EA Photo Contest on Canreef! This months subject is definately my favorite. This months subject: REEF FAVORITES All entries should be a picture of the owners favorite item in their aquarium. No limitations here on the subject however it's important that the focus of each photograph is only on the subject or favorite item. In other words when looking at the photo your eyes should automatically be drawn to that item and nothing else. This can be done by limiting depth of field, cropping or even using some fancy photoshop tools and skills. Requested, but not required, members should post info about their picture. This should include a picture title and camera specs. Only the first 20 entries will be used, so do not delay.Entries will be accepted until July 24, 2008. Post entries here, if you cannot post your picture please email it to me (sphelps@sasktel.net) and I will post it for you. Good Luck!! The winner will be determined by you, the voters, and the winner will receive an extra surprise bonus this round. Contest Rules are as follows: 1) You must follow the guidelines given for each contest 2) ALL members including vendors can enter, I just ask that the picture is from a personal or display tank, not store stock. 3) As long as YOU take the picture and it fits the guidelines you can enter it, I don’t care whose tank it’s from 4) First come, first serve up to 20. But do not hesitate to continue posting pictures if 20 were already posted. 5) Each can post as many pictures as they want, but only ONE can be entered. Please specify which one when posting multiple pictures or I will choose for you. 6) Have Fun! |
Excellent idea. So many options.

Is that what it is?
Thanks.....I'm not very good at figuring out what coral is what....mostly cause they tend to morph into different shapes from tank to tank. |
Here's a few I took today
Here are my submissions, Steve take your pick.
The first is "todays favorite" frag. I've nursed this guy along for almost 2 years and it's finally showing some promise. As per the theme this month I believe the eyes are always drawn back the center piece although surrounded by other corals. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...lycontest1.jpg These next two are likely the most photographed subjects in my reef because they always seem to be changing colour & shape as they grow. Rainbow Stylo http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...nbowstylo1.jpg A.Granulosa http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Granulosa1.jpg |

I like your photo contests Steve, nice to see there still going & your back in action. I didnt get in the last months contest but here's this month's photo. This is our latest addition. Hes hard to catch in the open so I didnt have time to set anything on my camera. I have better pictures but I like this one because theres a yellow tang in the backround & it makes the Lionfish look small but hes not!!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...axxer/Leo1.jpg It was taken with a Nikon D-40 in full Auto, ed18-55mm lens. I didnt have time to set anything, & I dont have any settings saved!!!!! |
Montipora sp.
Ok this isn't a new shot Steve, but I am at work again so you have to give me a break lol!
Details: Canon D200 with a 105mm f2.8 micro nikkor lens. Cropped & cleaned up in P/S. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...s/DSC_0093.jpg |
Nice one Kelvin, is that the lion that was trained on mysis? Either way very cool fish and picture.
Scott, nice pic as always. When did you get the Canon D200? Thought this would be an appropriate place to show off my new favorite. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...h/DSC_0381.jpg Nikon D300 w/10.5mm Nikkor. |
Yea thats the Lion trained on mysis got it from Bayside, & wow does he eat a lot!!! Cool fish Steve, frogfish right?

Photo Details: Camera: Nikon Coolpix E8800VR Shutter Speed: 1/40 fps Aperture: f/5.0 Flash: No ISO Speed: 50 I cropped the photo a little, as well made minor adjustments to contrast and color correction (iPhoto). I wanted to take a photo of the anemone as my "reef favorite", but also wanted the clownfish in there for kicks. :) |
Nice One!

I can't figure out why photobucket ALWAYS shrinks my photos down.
