marie 05-01-2008 10:52 PM

Not only is this thing dead silent but look at the foam I get just running it in straight tap water and vinegar

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...skimmer004.jpg

*edit* you'll have to excuse my excitement, the only other skimmers I've had before this were prism pro, bak pak, remora pro and a berlin xl turbo

fkshiu 05-01-2008 11:06 PM

Dayum! I'm sooo jealous.

wickedfrags 05-01-2008 11:10 PM

Oh my........nice! And yes they are very quiet.

Lance 05-01-2008 11:13 PM

Holy Crap Marie!: That thing looks big enough to run a line to my house and skim my tank too:lol:

Tom R 05-01-2008 11:17 PM

Well Marie

That moves you into the category of serious Reefer.

Tom R

seanoman 05-01-2008 11:17 PM

You will be sooooo happy with the Bubble King. I have the 300 external on my tank and just love it so far. And yes they are silent when they are running.

Oh yeah what model did you get?

Jason McK 05-01-2008 11:44 PM

Welcome to the club Marie, you will not be disappointed.

That's a beut.

Hard to disappoint when the competition is a berlin XL

Seanoman, its a supermarin 200

Pier Pressure 05-01-2008 11:54 PM

That thing is gorgeous. OMG did I just say gorgeous in relation to a SKIMMER? It is official - I must be a saltwater addict. I hope you get many years of great skimming out of that baby!

lol, did you ever think at some point in your life, that after spending that much money on something, you'd say that?

The red PVC makes them extra sexy looking IMO

Chowder 05-02-2008 01:19 AM

Lucky you!!! Wish I was that lucky.

It wasn't luck, it was shear hard work. You try making some of these large hairy dogs look beautiful

Here is a pic less then 2 hours after being placed in my tank

lastlight 05-02-2008 05:14 AM

You know how some times you spend way too much money on impulse and everything seems to go wrong right from the time you order it? Shipping is weeks later then you were told, hidden fees that end up costing you more then you anticipated? Item arrives broken and the seller can't be found?
Well this time it didn't happen to me
It worked great, I had them ship it by usps (I had free shipping). It took 10 days to get here and all I had to pay at this end was gst, pst and a $5 brokerage fee (for some reason there was no duty even though its made in germany and it was shipped in the original box). I saved quite a bit of money and I couldn't be more thrilled (knock on wood)

lastlight 05-02-2008 05:38 AM

Sounds like you'd be more than happy to sell it to me then?

What's your system volume? I'm also looking at the same skimmer for my future ~250g system.

Keri 05-02-2008 05:53 AM

I'm totally j-e-a-l-o-u-s! :)

Ummm... no! but I do have a berlin turbo XL that I could sell you

I figure I have about 200g give or take 10g. I actually thought of getting the supermarin 250 but I already spent wayyyyyy too much money on a fish toilet i couldn't justify spending a couple hundred more

banditpowdercoat 05-02-2008 08:10 AM

Wonder how that would work on my 45g? LOL:lol:

QUIET? really? One thing that i dont like about my setup, I can hear that Aqua C Urchin spraying away. only had it a month, can I upgrade yet?? Ruh Roh, I think I may be becoming an addict???

WhoPoopWrasse 05-02-2008 02:42 PM

Hi Marie,
I feel like a skimmer bobo but what sort of skimmer is it and what did it cost?
I'm also thinking of changing over my remora pro for something else and give the remora to my daughter...

marie 05-02-2008 03:05 PM

It's a BubbleKing skimmer. Cost about 3 times more then I was willing to pay for a skimmer and it's so far worth every penny.

It has produced more skimmate in 15 hrs then my berlin produced in 5 days and its still breaking in

lastlight 05-02-2008 06:35 PM

that skimmate alerady looks great! I was a bit worried about how dark these SM's could skim but that looks just how i like it. And coincidentally...just how the wife hates it!

Jason McK 05-02-2008 07:19 PM

I have the 300external and I need to clean it every 3 days. It completly stinks up the whole house :)

I am so glad I don't have a wife

lastlight 05-02-2008 11:26 PM

I'll bet you are lol.

Basically applies to anyone but the skimmer operator. Somehow I can tolerate the stuff. It's the stench of money well spent!

marie 05-04-2008 05:10 AM

Holy crap, my tank is dirty . I emptied and cleaned the cup at 2:30 this afternoon and this is the skimmate thats there tonight
