Auto Logout

Anybody have login/logout problems. The remember me feature of the login is not working....seems to autolog off in a very short time

Try clearing your cookies and then logging in with the "remember me" feature. Sometimes that helps for me

I have been having the same problem that Fencer refers to. I get logged off automatically very quickly...and the "remember me" function doesn't work.

The problem started right after the last site "upgrade"...went away for most of the month of May..but now it has started to happen again.

Do you happen to use the internet security software from Telus?

Delphinus 06-03-2008 08:30 PM

I'm wondering if it's a firewall or other internet security software on your PC that's clearing cookies maybe? Also check to see if your settings (if you have something like that) aren't set up for something like "www.canreef.com" and you're accessing "canreef.com". I noticed that whatever you I enter as the canreef address (ie., www.canreef.com, canreef.com or the IP#), it retains that throughout your whole session.

I just come to the site....and im in......

I'm not running any security software from Telus.

I do run a firewall. (but who doesn't?)

I auto-login whenever I restart a browser session and enter Canreef (www.canreef.com). If I get auto-logged out (too quickly) that function no longer works in that session.

I'll read some stuff, then hit "reply" and get the message that I need to log back in again. It is almost at the point where I have to relogin every time I want to place a response.

Really, it is just the auto-logout that annoys me. I find myself re-logging in WAAAYYY too often.

Zap your cookies in the browser

Delphinus 06-04-2008 09:50 PM

It almost sounds as if something is expiring or deleting your cookies automatically.

As far as I know there isn't an option for auto-logging-out based on an idle timeout or something. Or if there is, it will be the same setting for everyone. I'll try poking around in the admin panel to see if there is such a thing.

I don't have that problem myself but I have the "Remember Me" checked so I don't ever login unless I'm coming in from a computer I don't normally use. If the "Remember Me" option isn't working then I suspect something is erasing or expiring cookies on your end. What browser are you using? I don't think a firewall would normally do it but depending on which one you're using, it might have some kind of "internet security" features enabled by default, that could be interfering.

Delphinus 06-04-2008 09:53 PM

Ok I found the idle timeout, it's currently set to 20 minutes. That is if you don't post or refresh a page or load a new page within 20 minutes, the board assumes you've moved on and logs you out. If you're getting booted within 20 minutes though then it is something else.

untamed 06-06-2008 02:55 AM

It is probably 20 minutes that I'm getting booted out. That's too quick. I would prefer that to be several hours..or never.

And...once booted...you have to close your browser and reopen it in order for "remember me" auto-login to work. My browser is open virtually all the time, and I just open new tabs for different things. So the 20 minute auto-logoff makes me re enter my password over and over and over and over...

fencer 06-06-2008 04:13 AM

Try the firefox browser

titus 06-06-2008 01:35 PM

Hello,

Actually I also leave my browser tabs open and put my computer to sleep mode. When I re-power it up, I never have to re-login and this is through multiple days.

Today...for the first time in maybe a week or two...I didn't get auto-logged out. So I am happy once again!
