None of you guys have any Duncan pics??

Aquattro 04-28-2008 03:22 AM

I just picked up a 2 headed "colony" , no pics yet though

marie 04-28-2008 03:24 AM

Mine will be here tomorrow so you'll have to wait

Myka 04-28-2008 03:42 AM

Did you guys order them from J&L? I saw they had them in again. :)

Aquattro 04-28-2008 04:23 AM

No, mine was from Safari Pets here in town.

surgeonfish 04-28-2008 06:01 AM

I just bought mine from J&L - approx 10 heads. Should arrive Tuesday. What conditions do you have yours in?

Snappy 04-28-2008 06:21 AM

Mine are at the bottom of my tank so I never think to take pictures of them.

Chaloupa 04-28-2008 06:45 AM

Mine also are at the middle bottom and very bottom of the tank, and difficult to take pics of due to the lighting....but I do really like them!

Myka 04-28-2008 02:09 PM

Mine are in a VERY shady area with almost no flow. It's the only place I can get full polyp extension, but as you can see in my pic, mine still don't have great polyp extension.

marie 04-28-2008 10:17 PM

I've only had them half an hour but here you go

Myka 04-30-2008 02:52 AM

Wow, Marie, you're getting great PE on those!! Mine seem to be like rage's...kinda stubby. Nice one rage! BIG one! How long did it take to reach that size? Mine sure grows slow...

rage 05-01-2008 03:52 AM

would u beleive me if i told u i went from a 2 polyps brach to 22 in about 3 months?
these duncans are different, bigger, more colorful , hardier, and alot more expensive!!:twised: Also i feed mine huge chuck of food almost daily, and it keeps on asking for more, i can easily feed it fresh small shrimp without cutting them, that how big the polyps are ...

tang daddy 05-01-2008 04:48 AM

Yah duncans are definately cool!!

I had one that started off as one head grew to 5 but then fell and got stung, only 1 head got stung but the rest eventually followed suit. I got another one with 1 head from Clint a few months back it's close to 10 now. Myka if you feed yours with pieces of mysis of fresh prawn you will see it grow much faster... I got tired of feeding everyday so now it's once every 2 weeks.

Myka 05-01-2008 02:18 PM

I'm going to start feeding mine....it started off as 2 heads in September, and as soon as it got into my tank it started developing 2 new heads. Now the new heads are the same size as the original two, but I see no signs of producing more heads yet, and it's been 7 months!!!!

Myka, If you want if you want more tentacle extension have you tried puting them where there is bit more flow?

here's a pic of mine tonight, as you can see the flow is pretty good (at least compared to yours)

Ya, mine get SUPER stubby if I put them in medium flow. Mine have very little flow where they are, and little light too. I can't seem to make them very happy...they have the best PE in the dark when the lights are off! They tend to retract several times a day too.

Oh, mine act more like the euphyllias they retract at night and extend during the day  .

Myka 05-06-2008 02:47 AM

Ok...so they're opposites!

I got mine from J&L last Tuesday. 11 heads. They are looking really nice and mine also retract at night. I will try and post pictures tomorrow.

Chaloupa 05-06-2008 03:21 AM

mine as well are out in full force during the day and retract at night....it's a nice coral. Mine has several heads now and started with just 1 on each frag. AND the added bonus is that no pests bother them!

Myka 05-06-2008 03:59 AM

Ok, so mine are tweaked! I just moved mine to see what happens...maybe they will decide they like more flow and more light.

marie 05-11-2008 04:40 AM

and the tentacles just keep getting longer and longer

Holy wowzers marie!! They look awesome! Mine are actually very happy in their new location. I'll get a new pic soon here...

EmilyB 05-11-2008 07:21 AM

Man, I think I just killed a bunch of those things......

Myka 05-11-2008 05:19 PM

Why's that? They're worth $15/head. :)

Lance 05-13-2008 03:02 AM

Just got mine today from O/A 5 heads for the price of 4. Gotta like that:biggrin:
