stocking list

Just wanted to run my idea for stock past ya'll see if anyone can spot any future problems. Tank is a 33g with a 20 gallon sump/fuge 50lbs LR. Running just over 4 months with corals and CUC (no fish) only thus far.

2 True Percs
1 Royal Gramma
1 Midas blenny
1 Hi fin red banded goby
1 Clown goby
2 blue chromis

Seems like a long list for a 33, but they are all small fish.

Why only one perc? A pair would be much happier in the long run :)

Agree and maybe a colorful Wrasse

super7 04-15-2008 04:56 AM

the chromis will kill eachother.

Starry 04-15-2008 05:49 AM

I dont really want a wrasse, but thanks for the suggestion.
I thought Chromis were fairly peaceful? Any ideas for a sub?
Want smallish peacefull fish that are 101% reef safe.

Chromis ARE peaceful - to other species, that is ;)

I just picked up a little blue neon goby. Quite a bit of personality for such a wee fella. The way he darts around reminds me a lot of FW tetras. They're so puny that you could add a handful without increasing your bioload by very much. Quite cheap (for a SW fish) and useful too as cleaners.

You should only have an odd number of chromis. 1,3,5, so on.

ryan, i dont know where you got that info. no offence, but i wouldnt trust it. one or none for the chromis in a small tank. I agree with the neon goby suggestion, but i would only go for one. they can be pretty feisty with each other especially in a smaller tank.

as far as bioload, I would go for the perc pair and leave out any chromis. but i am a bit of a conservative as far as bioload is concerned.

From what I remember Ive read it in a couple books. Maybe its not right....

Starry 04-15-2008 11:44 PM

ok, strike the Chromis(s) and add 1 neon blue goby. Any other insite?
List is now:
2 True Percs
1 Royal Gramma
1 Midas blenny
1 Hi fin red banded goby
1 Clown goby
1 Neon Blue Goby

Any other insight?

are you planning on keeping clams? I know that bicolor blennies will nip at clams, not sure about the midas blenny but he might also nip at clams. Something to look into.

Starry 04-16-2008 05:43 AM

nope, no clams...least not in this tank.
