Snow Day?

It is April right?

Phanman 04-10-2008 04:31 PM

lol 2hrs to get to work today ><

Delphinus 04-10-2008 04:33 PM

This is Calgary ... You've heard of a little thing I like to call "May" right? This is nothing, just wait for the May long weekend.

jasond 04-10-2008 04:36 PM

Two hours? It didn’t take me near as long, only a little more than an hour and a half, which would normally be 15-20min. I'm looking outside my office right now, and there is OVER a foot of snow piled on our building. Unbelievable. On a positive note, the Flames had a great game, hopefully they can do the same tonight!

GO FLAMES GO!!!!

Doo 04-10-2008 04:42 PM

Good to see some Flames fans!!

I don't miss the Calgary traffic :)

Go FLAMES Go!!!

kari 04-10-2008 04:45 PM

It was called Beer Day before 9:00am.

Brent F 04-10-2008 05:11 PM

I got in quicker than normal. I'm south of Fish Creek going to downtown. The trains were on time and emptier than normal.

The roads looked like a nightmare from the train.

Pier Pressure 04-10-2008 05:12 PM

GO FLAMES GO is right. Surprised they won the first round.

Unfortunately had to work as the office did not call for a snow day or a beer day - I wish. I was brushing my car off this morning and by the time I would get all the way around it was just about as deep back at the starting point! Finally gave up and just drove.

michika 04-10-2008 05:31 PM

The drive north into Downtown was horrible. Left at 6:25am, got home at 9:20am. I spent more time in 1st gear today then I've probably done in the past year... So glad I didn't have anywhere to be at a specific time.

digital-audiophile 04-10-2008 05:32 PM

I got it somewhat easy today. I had to take my vehicle to Shaw GMC for service so I left the house at 6:30.. it took me about 1/2 an hour to drive what would normally be a 10 minute trip down Deerfoot/Blackfoot. Rode the Shaw shuttle downtown and was still in the office before 8:00. A few people in the office too 3 hours to get in from the N.W.

Der_Iron_Chef 04-10-2008 05:36 PM

Eww. Luckily I don't work until 2pm today, and it's usually just a 10-minute drive for me. So I'll leave 30 minutes ahead of time (won't be driving in rush hour).

Greg, you sure you don't want to take that tropical vacation now? Although...the forecast for the next 4 days says 12-19-22-19.....not half bad.

albert_dao 04-10-2008 05:40 PM

Sure glad I sat my lazy @$$ at home today :)

digital-audiophile 04-10-2008 05:40 PM

LOL when I woke up this morning I was thinking the vacation would be nice right now instead of next winter :p

You're right though, near 20's on the weekend :) I am thinking the family to the zoo on Sunday.. mainly becuase I want to see the new stingray tank.. oh and my daughter will like it too :p

hillbillyreefer 04-10-2008 05:41 PM

It's plus 4 c in the sunshine where I'm at. We are all complaining about how dry it is here. We'll trade ya. That would save a lot of whining on both ends.

langdon reefer 04-10-2008 05:55 PM

the snow just started coming down pretty hard here 5 mins ago i could see grass now its all snow well atleast the walk to work was nice...lol

pandafishowner 04-10-2008 06:45 PM

damn snow ruined my plans of teaching my girls how to ride their bikes

I'm so sick of snow. Damn. After living in Winterpeg for 19 years I've had enough of damn near year round snow.

It better all melt. I shovelled the sidewalk and oh man it's about 12 inches deep. :twised:

fishoholic 04-10-2008 06:46 PM

HAHAHAHA! It's not snowing here  PS you can keep it, I don't want it!

digital-audiophile 04-10-2008 06:48 PM

I'm not even going to bother shovelling when I get home, it will all be melted by the morning I am sure.

Funny you would think more people would have taken transit.

GO FLAMES. WHERE DID WE GET THIS YELLE GUY FROM?

digital-audiophile 04-10-2008 06:53 PM

LOL Calgarians don't take transit unless they really really really have to :p

My guess is the roads were too bad for people to get to the stations. Usually the trains are packed during storms.

Geofrog 04-10-2008 08:28 PM

I'm just glad I didn't swap out the winter tires yet.
