Meet Molly!
This is Molly. The new addition to our family. She is an 8 week Beagle, which is a big change for us as we've always had boxers. We lost "Ozzie" (flashy fawn boxer) last October to boxer heart syndrome. He was only 5 yrs. old.
Anyway, I've been doing some research on Beagles and would love to hear from other owners as to personality, training, etc. I know they can be stubborn little buggers, but she sure is cute and friendly! Lance http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/P1010740.jpg |
Awe! She is very sweet looking!

You might want to invest in some ear plugs for your neighbours  . The only thing worse then a beagle voice are bassets and blood hounds.
I think you'll also find her a wee bit more independent then your boxers but the ones I've met have been wonderful dogs although prone to food fixation and obesity later in life |

Yes, I've read that, so we're keeping a close eye on her diet. I've already noticed the independence thing. She's perfectly happy to explore around the house on her own, even though she's only been here one day. |
Congratulations on the new family member...
On a side note isnt 8 weeks a little early to seperate from there mother, i though 3 months was the limit. |

Our vet says 8 weeks is OK. She seems fine. Eats well, plays well, sleeps well, bites my feet well, chews my slippers well, pees on the floor well. |
Too cute, my step-daughter and her hubby have a beagle named Molly (they got her at 8wks too) and then about a month later added Bruno to the mix (beagle too). They are wonderful pups, but are very mischeivious when left alone. (I can laugh it's not my house, LOL) Molly & Bruno arent very vocal, bu do speak when asked.
|
She is sure cute. 8 weeks is common now instead of 12.
We are on the list for a midsized Austrailian Labradoodle. The mother is expecting later this month so we should have the pup early July. |

Are those the allergy-free dogs I've heard about? |

There are muligeneration Austrailian labradoodles which are a cross of 6 different breeds (primarily lab and poodle though). The Australian multgen is usually hypoallergenic. The second type of labradoodle are crosses between labs and poodles. F1 (crossing a lab and a poodle) usually have wavy coats and are not hypoallergenic. Same thing for F2 (an F1 lab poodle cross mated to an F1 lab poodle cross) The most likely to be hypoallergenic are F1B (an F1 lab poodle cross mated to a poodle resulting in a 25% lab, 75% poodle cross). |

that depends if it is tea cup, minature, or standard poodle size. breeders do various sizes.

...............Height (in.)...Weight (lbs.) Standard....21-24.........50-65 Medium......17-20.........30-45 Miniature....14-16.........15-25 We are getting a medium multigen Australian and have been told to expect a dog around 17 inches at the shoulder and 30 lb. Both parents are smaller mediums. I'd be concerned getting a F1 mixed between a very small of a poodle and a lab. Some breeders will do this using artificial insemination. I'd worry about genetic problems mixing dogs that different in size. |
They seem to be extremely expensive dogs. :surprise: I'd love to know more about them since you have already done the legwork. Is the breeder local ? Please PM me.
Oops, and about the beagle....lol, had one. Never again. Last time I saw it was after we moved to an acreage and it had freedom to run. Ran for three days that I saw, and disappeared. Most thankless dog I've ever owned. They sure are cute though. |

Yes, they will do that. The beagle book we bought states that you should never let it off a leash as they will pick up a scent and take off. So we are going to fence the yard for her. In the meantime, I guess lots of long walks. What do you mean by "Most thankless dog I've ever owned." |

Probably why I prefer the total opposite, the VERY needy doberman...lol. Not everyone wants a needy dog though. And since you know about not letting it run free, cool ! |
All these replies, and so few pictures. I demand more Molly photos! :D

The last one is of our Boxer "Ozzy" R.I.P. We've had boxers for over 16 years, so this beagle breed is all new for us. I'll keep you posted as to how Molly is doing. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...70_Ghjky-M.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...75_3i5PU-M.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...01_xKU9a-M.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...iumWebview.jpg |
Oh she is too cute. Which is how they get away with eating your socks etc.
Ozzy was quite handsome. Boxers always look to me like they should have their servants sitting at their feet. LOL |

Yeah, they're very regal looking, aren't they. A real nice breed too. Only drawback is they have real health issues. |
So adorable! Both of them are very pretty! I just want to pick up Molly and cuddle her!

If she doesn't quit chewing up my shoes, I may just send her to you and you can cuddle her all you want. She actually came from Calgary. My wife had contacted the owner earlier and then attended the Junos and visited our daughter. She then brought her home with her. |
Lance, I thought of phoning you from work today so you could hear first hand an adult beagle in full yodel
|
Quote:
Oh, I'm sure I'll hear it first hand soon enough! |
With a face like that, how can you get mad, and stay mad?
All dogs that come into our house leave as the biggest most needy lapdogs that anyone has ever seen. Send Molly at your own risk. :P |
It's a good thing she does have a face like that!
This is a before pic of a Hummer I built from scratch http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...elot57/hum.jpg This was after Molly found it and chewed off one of the side rails. Grrrrrrrr!!! http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...lot57/hum3.jpg |
It could be worse, when my youngest was about 6 months old she hit her chewing phase. She ate 4 pairs of designer shoes, a designer wallet, a couple of credit cards (from in the wallet), and numerous books. In shoes and wallets alone she did 3k worth of damage in about a month.
That face though will get them out of anything! Just one look, and you can't be upset with them anymore. Pretty Hummer though! |
