Danny: How long have you had the caps?
Nice tanks! |
reply
Thanks.
I've had the orange, green and purple caps for about 4-5 years now, and the tan cap for about 2. they all get trimmed every 6 months so that they don't over grow the tank. |

Time to post my first pic, I'm proud of this tank, but it still has a long way to go to match some of yours. It's been up for around a year now.Attachment 2220

Shouldn't there be a 2008 tank shot thread started?
|
done, moved all the ones from the beginning of the year to this new thread
|
It's not that recent and I'm not happy with it, but it is from 08, I'll try and get a better shot before too long.

This is my first posting.

Sorry I did them as attachments instead of uploading to a photoshare. Thought it might be easier but I guess it's not foolproof. For whatever reason I can see them fine.
I'm hoping the 280g will be wet within a month. At least, I'm hoping to buy the rock this month, that should shame me into getting it done. :) I would hope!! |
110g cube (30x30x30):

Tony, dont know if you have any clown in there, but i can imagine that magnifica with a dozen of clownfish in there, it would be insane! :D
Are your rabbitfish eating all your algea problem? I have a grape caulerpa algea and wondering if they would eat it... tried foxface and few tangs, none are interested. There is a lot of serious beautiful tank in this thread!!! Keep it up! |
|
So that 280 will be wet eh Tony? PM me when your going to order rock. I'd like to get in on that.
My 2008 contribution; 180g standard http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...h/DSC_0171.jpg 28g long nano http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...a/P1020572.jpg |
I hope to update with a wet picture sometime this year!

fkshui your tank looks awesome! I really like the layout of how the rockwork flows with the length of the tank. How big is that regal tang ?
|
|
Jason your tank looks amazing! Looks like you carved out a large piece of reef and brought it home. I think the two sided idea is great.
|
I agree, great aquascaping Jason. :)
Actually all tanks in here are great. Good work everyone! Keep 'em coming! :) i2ik, the rabbits are not too bad at munching down the algae. The one thing I've found they won't touch is bryopsis. I would have thought a foxface would be interested in caulerpa .. a bit surprised to hear he won't go for it. I don't have any caulerpa in this tank so I don't know if they'd go after it or not. They do however make pretty quick work of chaeto. |
My 33g reef (15 months old in this photo):
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...ar10200812.jpg My 40g bdr that I was going to setup as a FW planted tank, now I think I'm going to use for a Bangaii grow out system: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...ms/40Tank2.jpg My 75g cube (28x28x18) just a little more work to go haha! http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...Mar3020082.jpg |

175 bowfront
Here's my newer 175 bowfront. Have a juv emperor angel, flame angel, indian sailfin tang, 3 chromis (not sure what kind as they are different), 2 tomato clowns, small zebra eel, colored urchin, star in starfish (?), galaxy, devils finger, few different leathers, many different mushrooms, hammer, frogspawn, pipe organ, bright green tingy candy cane, couple bright pink rics, couple green BTA, GSP all over the place. Not quite finished covering all the PVC pipe. Waiting for more corals!

WOW Danny, Sam, Snappy, Jason,Fkshiu and Lando your tanks are amazing reefer's
WELL done. Tony how do you find the 2 x flame angels in your tank doing together. any PROS / CONS Doug if you read this can you put a pic of my tank on there since Im playing in an extremely Adverse sand box at the moment..... tanks |
Mike, they're pretty small so I think that's how I'm getting away with it. As they get bigger, either they'll form a mated pair, or I guess there will be trouble and I'll have to deal with it (ie., separate them) as it plays out.

tank under attack of aptasia...

You could make some sort of low budget horror movie by filming the aiptasia taking over that small house in there. Add some dramatic, horror music and screaming..it might go to #1 on Utube!
