Wanted: Mantis Shrimp

I'm currently looking for a new mantis shrimp but I'd prefer not to have a peacock. I'm only looking for smaller species as he would be living in a 10gal tank. If you're looking to part with one please let me know

What Kind of tank do you have him in? I would like to know the species if you could email Roy Caldwell for an Identification, because I can't have one that gets big, I dont have the room for him.

well, i don't know who roy caldwell is...if you can give me his email address i will be happy to email him as i would like to know his species too

if these are Gonodactylaceus glabrous or Gonodactylaceus graphurus you should be expecting 8-9cm when they are adults~

I am looking at one today (Sunday), but If that one isn't very pretty I will take you up on yours.
Roy Caldwell is basically the Mantis Shrimp expert. Post a new thread on the website asking for a mantis shrimp ID and he will probably respond or someone else will be able to help. Because I want to be 100% sure first.
Thanks

P.S. I love you shrimp he is so gorgeous! Worst case scenario I'll try to convince my boyfriend to start a tank. No promises but your little guy is cute!

Im 95% sure these are either G. graphurus or glabrous. cant distinguish the two except by a close examination of the telson to see whether or not it has a little hole in it. identical care requirements.

so, sunce_22 ... u don't want it?

sunce_22 03-19-2008 02:33 AM

Actually Yeah I do! Where do you live? How can I pick it up?

rudy 03-19-2008 01:54 PM

It is a Gonodactylaceus ternatensis Male. Are the meral spots on the insie of the smashers orange?
It will get to big for a ten gallon and they are prettty reclusive
I would be all over that if I was in Vancouver. If you feel like putting it in the mail let me know

I haven't had the time to see if he is really active, but every now and then when I look at the tank or feed him, he always comes out and nibble the feeding prong and hangs on to it.

sunce_22 03-19-2008 08:31 PM

I have to thank you for offering the little guy. He is really nice, but considering the positive ID (I also did a little research on him) Im afraid I'll have tp pass. he is going to get too big for a 10Gallon tank. Thanks again though!
