Can I see some sumps?
I need Ideas for my new sump, can I see some sump shots?
|
Here's my draft up
http://members.shaw.ca/kabong/sump3.JPG And heres the real thing http://members.shaw.ca/kabong/PPs07.jpg |
Isn't the water in that sump a little high? What happens if the pump turns off?
|
yeah, that looks like it would flood for sure if the power goes out. You should leave a good 3 or 4" from the top for tank flow back into the sump with power outages. Just the water in the pipes alone will flood that sucker.
|
yeah you will want to cut down those baffles. About 3/4 height from tank would be enough this way you will leave lots of space incase of P/O.
|
agree
Agree..Flood probable.

Heres one of mine. This pic was taken before the tank was filled. The skimmer goes in the first chamber, andit certainly isnt this clean anymore:wink:

Notice both of you have a dump off the pump to dump right back to sump. Shut off installed tho. Why?
|
Oops Should have said that my sump is off in that picture.
The return on the pump with the ball valve enables you to control the GPH that goes into the tank. If you have too much pump for your overflow or drain to handle, This will allow you to slow it down. |
75g sitting on a 4 foot stand.
Large section for skimmer and bubble trap. Over/under/over baffles each spaced 3 inches apart (made a good little refugium before I added dedicated 20g), then another large area for settling and pump section. The large pump section was good for handling evaporation but since the ATO really not needed. Have the tee off the return also. Plan was to place a multiport manifold to feed things like CA reactor, Phosban reactor, skimmer, etc. Just ended up threading in a 1/4" JG off the 45° fitting for the CA reactor and a MJ1200 for the skimmer. Still think a good idea but probably will never do. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...5/sump_fug.jpg |
Here is mine 25 Gallon should have water in it this weekend.

Hi Danny,
Here's a 60 gallon sump I just made: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/100_3517.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/100_3516.jpg and a schematic of it: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...er/sump101.jpg Right now it is on my 125G. FW tank hence the bioballs and ceramic rings. I use the air powered sponge filter for a quick filter should I need a q tank plus it keeps the sump cleaner. Thinking ahead (for SW) I arranged the middle glass baffles to allow for a DSB or refugium space. |

Will try and get you some pictures. I have 3 in operation right now, each one a little different, all doing a good job.

I did mine a little different as I wanted to use my sump\fuge as a display tank.

Mark is that a fish between the baffles of your sump?

The 1" one is for my Beckett style Skimmer its on a 1200 gph Pump. One 3/4" is for my Return on a 18 mag. Two 1/2" are in's from my refugium. Two 1/2" are one in one out on my calcium reactor. I plumbed all my component separate so needed lots of holes. Still have my return to plumb in the 1-1/2 is the return from my skimmer in the picture as the 1200 gph is to much for my refugium and some needs to be returned to the Sump. I will be running my refugium off some of my skimmed water. |
Murray, no fish, just a terra cotta saucer holding down some foam (for QT HOB filter).

80+ gallon rubbermaid sump.
