Beautiful Sohal FS

Hi everyone,

We are selling our Sohal. He is a beautiful fish, but he is a wee bit cranky towards my smaller tangs. Here is a pic of him......we are looking for $75.00 which is less than half price to what the local stores are asking for him.

Delphinus 02-11-2008 09:39 PM

What's his current size (approx)?

digital-audiophile 02-11-2008 09:42 PM

Amazing fish! I wish I had a tank big enough.

fishyfolks 02-11-2008 09:58 PM

Yes it is a pretty fish....he's lol or she is about 7" long, and pretty chubby too.

adidas 02-11-2008 10:21 PM

think he's too big for a 120g?

adidas 02-11-2008 10:23 PM

Dibs!

Yup :)

adidas 02-11-2008 10:28 PM

even if im building a 600g in a few months? :)

Aquattro 02-11-2008 10:31 PM

yup. A 7" sohal in a 120 might go crazy by then. Just my opinion. Sohals are notorious space hogs, and can get aggressive and kill things if they get too cramped.

fishyfolks 02-11-2008 10:31 PM

Adidas,

What other fish do you have. This guy is pretty nippy, so if you have any other little guys, he may not be suitable. I would rather take him to Golds then have him disrupt your tank.

adidas 02-11-2008 10:32 PM

i wonder..i've only got a flagfin and 1 green chromis in my tank.. maybe i better start that tank sooner!

Aquattro 02-11-2008 10:33 PM

I'd honestly evaluate how long until you have a 600 up and running. 2 months, then maybe. 4-10 months, probably pass...

fishyfolks 02-11-2008 10:35 PM

I kinda agree Adidas. We would have been happy to drive him out to you....I think you might be really upset in a few days once he's bugged your other fish. What are you thinking?

adidas 02-11-2008 10:39 PM

well no other tangs in my system, so that shouldn't be a problem. just wondering about tank size. my tank is 60L x 30H x 24W

fishyfolks 02-11-2008 10:43 PM

Well that definatley makes a difference for swimming room back and forth. He seems to like swimming back and forth a lot more than up and down....anyone else think that makes a difference?

Aquattro 02-11-2008 10:49 PM

ya, 5 ft is better than 4, so that will help. Again, make sure the upgrade is sooner rather than later...

fishyfolks 02-11-2008 10:58 PM

What do you keep all your levels at. One more thing too....in a 600 gallon tank he will probably more than double in size and with that will come more aggression. Are you going to keep a lot of ather tangs. I know its a lot of questions....I just really want to make sure he gets the right home

Levels wouldn't really matter, as long as salinity is 1.021 - 1.026.

adidas 02-11-2008 11:07 PM

my levels are great, i've had my system stable for a long time. If the fish seems constricted, guess i'll have to start the new tank next month.

fishoholic 02-11-2008 11:44 PM

I just had to note how nice it is too see someone trying to find the right home for the fish instead of just trying to make a sale. I know lots of canreeef members do this, it just alway so nice to see.

fishyfolks 02-12-2008 12:10 AM

Thanks Fishoholic......I am always worried about their little fishy feelings. Lol! But heh, we are lucky enought to be able to have these little beauties in our living rooms or wherever.....we really owe it to them to give them the best homes we can.

adidas 02-12-2008 12:33 AM

I take care of my babies so don't worry :)

I believe you would. With only 2 other fish in your tank I think a sohal might be ok for a couple of months, but the sooner the 600g is up and running the better.
