Other system is on hold as I had to finish some renovating first so I figured I would build the QT system first.
25 gal Main with refugium and sump. A few pictures. Could of used more space but I think it will be okay. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall005.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall003.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall004.jpg |
So Its all running with water now added my rocks and sand plus one piece of live rock some seed sand and some Tiggerpods.
Tank http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall010.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall022.jpg Fuge http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall016.jpg Sump http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall019.jpg Piece of live rock http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall021.jpg Came with a present. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall034.jpg My Tigger pods seam to have found something to eat. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nkSmall026.jpg |
I think this is a really cool thread. Could you explain some of your plumbing a little more on the QT and Fuge? I am going to be doing my first nano shortly and could use any ideas.
|
Similar tank to the one I'm building now! You're further ahead though! Looks good! Ya, I'm confused by the sump/fuge plumbing too...
|
It looks a bit strange because I originally had a bit of a different plan in mind but ended up running out of room so had to adapt a bit.
One of the stand pipe is on a gate vale and just feeds the fuge. That water runs over the black overflow into the next compartment along with the other stand pipe, and from there both go to the sump in the lower level. Back to the tank on a Mag 9.5 through a SWCD Originally I was going to run one standpipe to the Fuge and one to the sump but I had problems with getting the plumbing all in there. Next job will be to finish the rest of my 60 gallon cube. Wanted to set this up and get it ready so I have somewhere to QT my fish ect. Anyone have any ideas for a not so noisy pump would like something about the size and output of my mag 9.5 as I am limited on space. I will also have to find a smaller heater to fit in the sump, but with 250w on 25 gallon I probally will not need one. |

Great Pictures!
|
I got one Pom Pom crab a while ago but because you only see them ones in a while I got two more to even the odds.
I got rewarded tonight at feeding time as this one was hungry. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g.../Fish007-1.jpg Picture of my fuge. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...er/Fish030.jpg |
:biggrin:My new friend not the best pictures. He has sure moved my sand around.

My new Starfish.

So I changed out my stand for a bigger one as the one I had was to small and changed some of my plumbing at the same time. I had picked up another tank that I wanted to make into a Fuge but have it on top so the pods don't end up in the filter bag.
So this was the weekend that I was going to make this happen. So i get home on Friday and one of my clowns is gone. He was looking a bit sad the last few days, but was still eating and I gave him a dip. I thought well the system should take care of him he was pretty small. So I get up on Saturday and my Blue spot has one of his fins clamped back. Damm so I pulled him out and put him in QT and treated him with para-guard. No luck at five he was gone. My other clown is now in medication as he was looking a bit sad as well. Funny thing is they were all eating ok. So after all this I figured since the fish are out I might as well change stands. Here is the end result. Ohh and I lost two sexy shrimp in the move after I changed all of it there was only two left. Not sure what happened must of buried them or something. My clown is looking better though. New refugium and tank http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...gtrigger/4.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...gtrigger/3.jpg The swirls are air bubbles in the picture I thought my skimmer in the sump would fix this problem but looks like I will have to do a mod. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...gtrigger/2.jpg |
looks really nice =)

That is a pretty slick looking tank system... really like the refuge.

Thanks here are a few updated shots of the inhabitants.

So have not updated for a bit things are growing out real nice some of the pieces that had lost some of the color have come back nicely.
I bought some of stuff from Florida Aqua Farms and made a Phyto reactor and a brine shrimp hatchery. Will post some pictures later when I get a chance. Also bought a pair of breeding clowns as mine don't lay eggs yet. Here is a picture off the new clowns. I can't stick my hand into the tank anymore as she bites me. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...OCT3108041.jpg Picture of my pathetic Cheeto that has not changed in 7 months. My refugium grows no algae at all but my main tank has lots. So strange. I had to take all my snails out as there is no food for them to eat. Maybe the pods consume it all first? http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...OCT3108083.jpg Got this guy as well not sure what tank to put him in right now. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...OCT3108080.jpg |
Just curious as to where you got your original Blue-Spot Jawfish, and what you paid, cause they are RIDICULOUS out here.
|
So thought I would show a few updated pictures of my tank. Things are getting a bit packed and not much room for growth so i better get my other tank running soon.
My Darwin's were showing spawning behavior tonight so I think they might spawn soon. My jaw fish is eating well as you can tell. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...er/Jawstar.jpg My clowns in their fake Nem. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...nsSpawning.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...wnsdarwin2.jpg Couple full tank shots. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...rigger/FTS.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...igger/FTS2.jpg |

Not sure what it is but I was told it has sweeper tentacles and to keep some space around it. |
Looks like Hydnophora to me.
I've been wrong before. And will be again. |
Just stumbled on this journal...
Nice build bud, when are the frag tanks starting up? The pocci on the bottom left looks like it's colouring up nice too bad the spotted blue jaw passed, I'm thinking of adding one to mine but they are really expensive. Post more pics. |
Got my glass and my stand is ready. Still have to make a canopy of some sort for your light. See what I mean about that red Milly frag I got form you good growth on the bottom ,but almost no polyp extension at all. Strange I think it might get too much flow, that birdsnest likes it though.
|
Ah, yeah, looks like Hydno - nice :)
|
Want a piece I have one frag.
|
mine had lots of flow on it and it really liked it,
If you have a frag of the purple pocci on the sand I wouldn't mind..... |
Sure no problem.
