OH wow. I'm actually kind of shocked.....that's a LOT of fish. How many? How big is your tank?

spoot 01-31-2008 08:33 AM

The tank looks pretty big, as you can't see the ends on either side of the pictures. Looks deep too.

No doubt, that looks mad overstocked.

I disagree with the "overstocked" statement. I see a lot of room where there are no fish. If you go diving you can't help but notice the fish like company and crowd themselves into groups. The real question is can this system handle the bioload? It looks pretty clean so I am guessing yes.
I think it looks great.

mr_alberta 01-31-2008 03:13 PM

Hey Chris,

Looks good buddy! How many gallons was your system again? It was pretty close to 1000 wasn't it?

Joe Reefer 01-31-2008 03:19 PM

Wow Chris. What is the fish count up to.

Murminator 01-31-2008 03:22 PM

Wow......

Finaddict 01-31-2008 03:26 PM

holy wowsers... i would want to snorkel in that if i owned it...

nice fish

Phanman 01-31-2008 03:26 PM

Ive always wanted to do something like that and have it not overcrowded but THAT just looks crazy!!!

Sushiman 01-31-2008 03:43 PM

brilliant piaa! excellent display, fishes look healthy & happy. Nice flow, could you post some details of your set up? it's nice to see a FOWLR /softie set up for a change.

christyf5 01-31-2008 04:12 PM

Wow that looks incredible. So neat to see such an awesome group of fish together. Just one question under the photo.

tang daddy 01-31-2008 04:44 PM

yup that's a juvi french although it's similiar to a grey aswell.

Love the angels and tangs great set up you must go through a ton of food to keep all these well fed what is your feeding regiment daily?

Also WC how often and how much for the size of the set up thanks?

Skimmerking 01-31-2008 04:50 PM

I love it man looks realyl good

argan 01-31-2008 05:07 PM

beautifully faked!

LoL Am I the only one who can tell it was Photo-shopped?
A Very good job mind you, but fake.
Look on the sand, no fish shadows.
Also too many are in perfect focus at once,
And some are duplicates of one fish.
Dream tank for sure :P

I see shadows as well as reflections on the glass behind the fish.

They aren't there in the first pic, and they were added in to the other 2 with photoshop, too perfect

Der_Iron_Chef 01-31-2008 07:26 PM

If the first picture was taken without a flash, there wouldn't be shadows on the back of the tank. Just a thought.

untamed 01-31-2008 07:40 PM

If it is NOT faked...and somebody thinks it looks fake...is that a compliment? Has the aquarist in question produced something that looks unreal?

dsaundry 01-31-2008 07:47 PM

Huh?

Faked or not faked..that is the question. Nice picture regardless..Is that a Majestic angel in one of the pic's? I have a juvenille majestic that I have just picked up and I am pretty sure the one looked like an adult.

Whatever camera settings you'd need to get a shutter speed that catches so many fast fish with no motion blur, and gets a focal length that long... well, those settings don't exist on my SLR -- or at least I don't know how to do it.

I believe it is intended to troll for the tang police.

mr_alberta 01-31-2008 08:33 PM

This tank = http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=35137

So I don't think it fake

I have to agree, but that staggers my imagination...

If you want to slow down the "fast moving" fish, just walk up to the tank so they think they are going to get fed, then step back and take the pictures. That is what I would do.

piaa 02-01-2008 07:33 PM

pic's were taken with a canon digital SLR and i think the starphire glass really helped alot making the pictures so clear .

Der_Iron_Chef 02-01-2008 08:35 PM

How about some aquarium specs? Inquiring minds (me) want to know all about it!

Not sure what the focal length would have to do with it. With flash or powerful reef tank lights, you can stop down the aperture so the the depth of field is very big. Shutter speed would not have anything to do with the amount of fish, if you can catch the fastest one without blur, the rest would not be blurred either.

It may have photoshopped. Some unsharp mask, maybe some white balance adjustments. No shadows due to the fact the poster used a flash, thus most of the light captured would be from the flash.

Clearly you are correct, and my errors have been exposed.

tbone 02-05-2008 05:18 PM

first of all, i would like to let you all know this photo is not photoshop in any way or form!, you can take a look at my post i have created awhile back, there are 4 250 watt MH on the tank, the system is connect to a huge sump in the basement.

if you guy think it's fake, i'll go record some videos for you when i head to chris house.

chris just knows how to take pictures thats all he doesn't even know how to use any photoshop software.

Mattgesy 02-06-2008 02:11 AM

its not fake, i up the pixels on the picture and they match, not even a good photoshopper can get them to match, plus you can see the shadows in the glass, and even.. if the fish is high enough your not going to see the shadows

fishoholic 02-06-2008 02:42 AM

That's what I'd like to have someday. But with that many fish I think a 1000g + size display tank would be better than a 500g display. However I'm not one to judge as I know I'm a bit overstocked too. I will say that the fish look healthy and that's always a good thing.

argan 02-06-2008 02:47 AM

Ok I take it back, I think its real now :)

just so many fish it made me SO JELOOSE:lol:

piaa 02-06-2008 03:09 AM

Sorry for the late replies. but im in the works on getting a tank journal done with step by step pictures on the build.

Mr.alberta: And yes my setup will be over 1000 gallon when everything is done

Der_iron_chef: the tank size is 132x33x28

Joe Reefer: As for the fish count there isn't much in there yet about 45+ but ill be gettting more angels in there.
