Covering the back overflows

I am looking to silicone something over the back of my tank entirely that will not breakdown over time into the back of my built in tank(inside the tank). Does anyone have any suggestions on something to use and where to get it.

Thanks in advance

Is the tank empty? When I had my new tank built I had it made with black plastic over the overflow to cover it. You could find out what this material is and duplicate it?

Tank is empty. Overflowes are hang on style so I need something to cover the entire back. 7 foot by 30

I bought my tank through Golds, maybe send Albert a message and their tank builder could cut you the plastic that he uses to your required size :)

You could use some of the corrugated plastic that signs are made of. Probably available at Home Depot or any sign shop.

Would that not break down over time?

Why not just a black or blue piece of acrylic?

You could use eggcrate. Then string chaeto through it. When the chaeto fills out, it will look like a hedge.

What the builder did on mine was simply silicone 1/8" black acrylic sheet around the overflows.

Ever think of making a background?

Probably would not grow as well as I would want...it is freshwater ;)

Corplast (corrugated plastic) would work fine. I have used it to cover overflows or as an inside background for years in saltwater and not had a problem over time. It does not break down. I also use it quite often for a background. I silicone it to the back glass (outside) to prevent salt creep or water stains from getting on the back glass.
