You know you're getting older when...

Well I just turned 30 and I've noticed a few things:

- Most people under 24 look young to me, and to them I know they mostly think 30 is old. On the flip side most people over 40 want to be 30 again.

- Now that I am 30 it doesn't seem so old after all

- People generally respect me more.

- People on TV and in ads who portray parents don't look old to me anymore

Is it just me or have others noticed this as well?

I look young for my age (most people think I'm closer to 25 then 30) but I got thinking about this last month when my boyfriends sister (who turned 22 in Nov. and forgot I was turning 30 in Dec.) was talking about her regular customers at the restaurant she works at, and how these "old" guys keep flirting with her. When my boyfriend (her brother) asked how old are these guys (I thought she was going to say around 50) she responded "like 30 or something" :surprise: Needless to say my boyfriend got a good laugh and she was very  when she realized that I was turning 30 right away!

I hear ya!

I turned 30 in June and it was tough on me. I know that it is not that old at all but it just seems like a little bit of your youth is gone. I think that in your 20's you can still screw up a bit and it is almost expected.. when you hit 30 you are "grown up"

In the end I have a house a wife and a baby so regardless of age I have to be grown up. :p

Just wait until you're meeting people with kids only to realize the parents were born after you finished college.

Happy birthday btw

I am 40 now and always forgot that I am old in age:lol:

Thanks for the b-day wishes, and I sort of know what you mean. I've been working in daycares since I was 19 and I can't believe that the 11-12 year olds that I first starting working with are now 22-23!!!!!!!

I feel your pain. I turned 30 in July, and have been trying my best to represent the 30+ club :D

I work with youth, and sometimes it hits me that, when I was graduating from high school, some of them were just born...or not quite. Hah!

You get use to it after a few years in your thirties. I'm 34 my wife is 27 and she always complains that she is getting old. No matter how I look at it she is young.

Bah! Girls only *start* to get interesting around 27-28.

Course by then we're all married and can't do anything about it anyhow.

I cannot believe you kids. Jeez, I'm 44, I got home at 4:30am from being out dancing all night to hip hop just cranked out of some giant speakers, and I've never felt so youthful in my life. All my 30yo buddies are at home hung over, I just got back from a 5k run in the rain. Stop sitting around talking about getting old, go out and stay young!!!

Remember, you're as young or as old as you believe yourself to be. I'm not gonna get old until I'm dead, and I'm fighting it all the way.

Ha!!! Seriously, youth and age are not directly related :)

K, I have a date, gotta run!

I know what you mean. I'm 47 and feel better now than I did in my mid 30s. Did Ironman Hawaii a couple months ago -couldn't have done that 15 years ago. That was an incredible experience. Most of the 4K swim is over a reef in Kona. Twice during the swim I had a pod of 8 - 10 dolphins swimming underneath me.
