OA has some last time I checked, maybe give Wendell a shout.
|
I just added it to my website if you like to look at it.
|
Looking for a real one or a fake one?
|
OA is my store, that is where I do most of My business... Wendell has never had one in that I know of, I would think that I would know.. if I missed one I would be ticked off... I want the true one. i dont know what a fake one would look like. Bright orange base with bright lime green polyps.
|
I would take the real one, there very nice. I got one from fragalot its real. Maybe ask Wendell or wickedfrags if theres are real. I'm sure they are as well.I never heard of fake corals before.

Check the link below, that is the sunset monti. This is one of the most distinct, unique monti's out there and there is no mistaking it with others.

Actually I think I saw "your" colony today, along with the rest of your new SPS frags for sale. I popped in after work today :)
Sorry as I noted previously this is the single most unique monti out there, and it is unmistakable to a well seasoned educated collector. At the same time the good thing is that it does not matter what I think. Would be buyers should do their research, compare the pictures, and I guess buyer beware. I attached a pic of what the real sunset looks like (like the atlantis piece). You may notice a difference in the oranges...no questioning the one you photographed is nice as well. And FYI I do not have this for sale so please, no PMs! Thanks. Quote:

Most recognize you are new to SPS, but as I mentioned previously a little research on the sunset monti would reveal this is a very specific, easily recognizable coral, made popular because of it’s bright orange pigmentation, it has been around for a long time and similar corals have just not been imported either as wild colonies or through aquaculture (unlike the superman monti, and many other popular named corals). FWIW, IMO this discussion would not even be worth while or honestly even debatable if it were essentially any other SPS. I can provide many many links for those who want to read up. If you want to see how the coral actually looks like, review the many US sites that sell this coral fragment. And I do not think they photograph with only actinics like you suggested (as the photograph I posted was from a fellow hobbyist’s site). Quote:

This is just SAD! I am so sad to see you like this. But anyway its your way i guess..
So you are the "Expert" but you need this kind cheap and childish way to do.. I feel so sorry for you. This is my last post on this thread. |
This is getting interesting ...
I hope we can keep cool heads and stay calm. Can any of you guys post good links to read about a "Real" color etc? And honestly its very hard to judge by the picture anyway IMO, so IF i want one, how do I make a decision ?. thank you. |
I appreciate your concern for my well being! And yes this is my way, honesty and accuracy, with the intent of simply providing additional information on the topic so people can come to their own decisions. I think it makes sense for people to read and research a lot in this hobby, but to think for themselves (which is why I decided to post outside my sponsor forum).
While I appreciate you think I am an expert, I believe experienced would be a more appropriate and more accurate choice of words. Some may say sad is being defensive about this rather than thinking of it as an opportunity to become more familiar with the coral, and consider just for a moment another person's point of view. I say this having seen both corals in person, I am not certain you can say the same. I have included a few links below for andresont, hopefully you will check them out as well (and maybe, just maybe, gain a little more perspective). Quote:
