Nov 29/07 - So what happened to that fabled invert order?

Well, it came at 11 PM last night and I was at the store til 4:30 AM this morning. It was that big!

I'm going to try to list everything here, but your best bet is to check it out on Friday.

Herbivores:

Abalones
Cerith Snails
Horned Astrea Snails
Golden Sea Hares
Ring Cowries
Trochus Snails
Turbo Snails

Here's a series of articles on grazing snails:

Detrivores

Orange Lipped Conches
Strawberry Conches
Banded Brittle Stars
Brownish-Pink Brittle Stares

Expect cleaner packages to be available shortly :D

Ornamental Inverts

Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Sexy Shrimp
Blue Linkia Stars
Feather Dusters
Heart Urchins (These things bear a remarkable resemblance to hedgehogs)
Sand Dollars

Also of note, I've brought in a lot of very nice Ricordia yuma. Single Polyp sizes, all of them quite exceptional.

Anyway, I'll further update this thread with the rest of the inbound stock, both live and dry, tomorrow.

Any shrimp of the fire/blood variety?

maxxxim 11-29-2007 06:55 PM

Skunk Shrimp

How big are the skunk shrimp that you guys got?

michika 11-29-2007 07:11 PM

Is the sexy-ness of Sexy Shrimp guaranteed? :D How many are there?

Sweet!

I hope there are still goodies left on Sunday, I fear that is the soonest I can get in, I'm heading out to Banff tomorrow for the company X-mas party.

I have had a terrible time finding any information on the heart urchin online. I'm assuming it is this species: Echinocardium cordatum. What exactly do they eat, how big do they get, and are they reef safe?

Nate 11-29-2007 09:30 PM

heart urchin

they are detrivores that require a deep sandbed...awesome for a big tank with a ssb or a dsb....cover the ground of 10 sand sifting stars...

ponokareefer 11-29-2007 09:40 PM

Thanks for the information Nate. As I have a deep sand bed, one of these would be awesome!

Nate 11-29-2007 09:45 PM

they need a larger tank

they require a larger tank, or old sand bed... had a buddy that had 6 in a 400 gallon, and barely had detritus... he also had about 6 sand sifting stars too. and the sand was 5 inches...

I was in there. Lots of inverts. Snails, shrimp, corals. Got me a nice pocillopora colony

digital-audiophile 12-01-2007 01:07 AM

Went in for some inverts this afternoon, ended up leaving with a nice bluish torch.

I didn't really want all 9 heads so I think I'm going to frag it in three and sell the two extra on the classifieds.
