Nintendo Wii info

We were thinking of getting one for the kids this Christmas. I have seen a couple threads in the lounge about them. I'm interested in getting some reviews from you guys. Also if we do decide to get one where the best place to buy?

Thanks

I got a Wii for myself last year. It is a pretty cool system.

I ended up staying up all night (and having pizza delivered to my car) to get mine. That all being said, call around and go early. Its worth it to sit in your car with a book and a coffee for half and hour.

Lots of games available, and so far I have yet to have any problem with my system. I picked up a second controller with the game Smooth Moves and it was worth the investment.

I have one and love it.

I stopped using my Xbox 360 all together. (Gave it to my friends kid now.)

I'd recomend getting one.

We have all the systems, and Wii is by far my favorite. There are a lot of multiplayer games, so it makes for a nice evening in with friends over. Mario Party is a big hit for us. We usually have friends over an evening, and play Mario party all evening.

Got a Wii for the kid but it's still in the box (Xmas) but know he really likes the ones the different friends have (he seven).

Took about 3 weeks to get one once I started looking hard. Talking to the different stores, the trick is if it's in the flyer the store will be getting some maybe only 5 but they'll have them.

For me the flyers were dry for a bit then when the Wiis started, I missed out a few times, when the flyer says 'sale starts Saturday' be there when the doors open. Finally did that and was 20th in line but got the last one from ToyrUs for that shipment.

Seems Future Shop and EB games a good bet.

I also got this link, can't say it work for me as no hits on it until after I got mine, but it did start popping.

Hopefully more will be available with Christmas coming so good luck.

I got one in august and they are a lot of fun for all ages. I was in Costco the other day and saw they had bunch of Wii's.

I like my Wii. I don't play it as much as I should but it is a good buy. I need to get a new wiimote sensor as one of my damned cats chewed through the wire.

I am shocked that they are still hard to find. I got mine about a month after it came out but I got lucky, I was off work on a Friday and went into Rogers video to get a movie and the gal at the counter was just opeing up boxes from a delivery and there were two in there. I grabbed one but should have bought both.

as fasr as i have seen/heard, it's a great system. A few of my friends have one and i must say, it makes for some great party games.

Greg here is a solution to your problem http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/jo...ii-sensor-bar/

Yes thats right, grab a couple tea light candles and place them on your T.V. and you have no need for the sensor bar.

We bought one for the kids and they really love it ... makes for some good family entertainment. We bought ours at Walmart for $269 along with the second remote which came with a game (that contains 8 mini games) which is a good buy. Works out that the game is pretty much free & I love the target practice on that one ... ummm, or they do ... so I would suggest buying the second remote at Walmart if you can find the same deal. I just asked the lady there when the next shipment was coming in and she told me. I showed up that day and they were stocking them on the shelf ...

if you are looking for a good game, I highly recommend Guitar Hero 3... Its almost impossible to get in the city but i just got one ordered from ebgames.com. use the code "diamond" for $10 off anything. When you enter it, it looks like it doesn't work, but get to the checkout and the $10 comes off.

had my wii for almost a year and while i owned it, it was fun for the time. like mentioned it's great for parties, and hanging out with friends. but i just found it got old, boring, and i just never used it and ended up selling it. i just find it gets old fast, i don't know why. just me though.

i've been playing the xbox 360 lately and i like it a lot so far.. thinking about grabbing an elite package sometime in the new year perhaps.

The candle gig looks interesting. I think I will pop the $10 for a new sensor bar rather than burn down the house :p

Thanks guys :)

Seriously? Just splice the wires back together. It is just power and ground, no big deal.

MY DIY skills are well, crappy at best. Perhaps I am part of the disposable society but it's easier for me to buy a new one :p

I've seen wireless ones too which will make my life a bit easier as I don't have my Wii right beside the TV so its a strech to get a wire to in front of the set.

i've considered a wii but we have a ceiling mounted projector in the basement. We'd have shadows on the screen as we play :)

i'm ****ed off at my 360 though. It's in for waranty work. Overheating :(

I heard the 360's had a big problem with overheating.

I saw a PS3 for $399 which is a lot cheaper then when they first came out. I'm still thinking a Wii would be the most fun, especially for the kids.
