HUGE Announcement from wickedfrags.com!

I am pleased to advise that wickedfrags.com has recently acquired a fully stocked 325+ gallon system from an experienced local hobbyist, a mixed reef consisting of approximately 40% SPS, and 60% LPS, zoas and palys. This reef was in operation for 2 years and contained many unique, rare and collectable pieces, some of which were transferred from his previous 90 gallon tank. Many of these corals started as collectible frags purchased from LFS's in Toronto and were grown into colonies. This was one of the nicest reefs I have ever seen and was pleased to have the opportunity to buy it from the owner while he and his family move to a new home and take a break from the hobby (before setting up an ever bigger tank of course!)

So what does this mean?

Wickedfrags.com now has approximately 850+ gallons of saltwater literally packed with corals, and 200+ new corals! These are not colonies just picked up from a recent shipment at the LFS, but consist of many wickedly coloured corals collected over the past 5+ years which are known to be hardy and hold their colour well in captivity. While I will continue to visit wholesalers and LFS’s over the fall and winter searching for new and interesting items, I can say with great confidence we currently have one of the greatest collections of rare, unique and wickedly coloured corals in Canada.

Over the next two weeks I will be replying to emails but will be unable to coordinate or ship out orders due to the enormous amount of stock we have, I can not keep everything organized! Also, should you be local to the Toronto area and looking for some medium, large or show size colonies (SPS, LPS, zoas) I will have some available over the next several weeks.

And yes I agree – this thread is useless without pictures! Stay tuned I will add some later today, and some over the next week or so.

Thanks,
Dave

How about some FTSs on both systems?

wickedfrags 10-11-2007 11:19 AM

I am currently housing all the corals from the new system I purchased in my existing system! So needless to say my 270G display is so full it is ridiculous, I can not see sand anywhere (front, back or sidesside) and my frag tanks are all full up as well.

The new tank and equipment is being moved this Saturday, with the intent of setting the system up the same day. So, a FTS would not be too flattering, and I need to do some wiring and other prep work the next two days.

I can however provide some pics next week when everything is in and set-up.

wickedfrags 10-16-2007 06:16 PM

Well the remaining corals and equipment were all moved Saturday - 7am until 11:30pm! Everything went ok until I got back to my place where I learned that the sump and tank somehow touched in the truck...........yes the sump had a small crack. Managed to get to the LFS and picked up a used acrylic sump and got everything running that night. Only 2 fatalities excluding the sump, a cole tang and a blood shrimp. Everyone else was fine.

I have a disturbingly large amount of corals now, and will be getting things organized over the next week so I can update the site. I will try and get some more pictures of the new stuff.

How's about an inventory list?

digital-audiophile 10-17-2007 05:02 PM

Some really nice stuff there. Hopefully there is a Calgary group buy I can jump in on :D

wickedfrags 10-18-2007 01:23 AM

For those who have been wanting more pics, and pics of my display......I have attached some below...look at all those corals in the sand! In reponse to your comments:

I am going to go out on a limb and say I probably have it, I can not get the camera on everything unfortunately. A you thinking LPS, zoas or SPS?

Last group order to Calgary went well. Hopefully there will be another one soon.

Wow, that is amazing looking!

How many corals in total do you think you aquired? Did you aquire any livestock when you purchased the system?

wickedfrags 10-18-2007 01:48 AM

Thanks. I am gussing I picked up about 150 corals with the set-up.

Okay that's d...m impressive. How about just an LPS list for now.

Der_Iron_Chef 10-18-2007 05:12 AM

Umm. Wow.

Suddenly my own tank looks SO pitiful. Heh.

Chowder 10-18-2007 05:23 AM

Wow amazing.

wickedfrags 10-18-2007 12:14 PM

Thanks :) A list of LPS would be a little easier than the SPS, but just as tough. I will try to update the site next week, but there will be lots of stuff available but not on the site. Think I have every colour combo of frogspawn/torch now, including that crazy green and pink one! If you have a coral or two in mind PM me and we can discuss availability and price.

Well I am not sure about that, you can do alot with a smaller tank. It's all about the corals after all...assuming of course water quality under control.

Thanks again. A long time collecting, and the new pieces from the system I bought really make the tank look pretty full. Managing so much water and coral is starting to get to me though..........good thing is this will pass, it always does.

As you can tell from earlier photos of my tank, the corals are really growing. Some real aquaculture going on here - no cutting frags off newly purchased corals that may not be hardy. I have several corals in my tank that have been in captivity for over 10 years (longer than I have been in the hobby). It is tough to tell from the picture, but I have several SPS corals in my tank the size of a football!

I'd be interested in seeing the colour morphs of your euphilliya. There are a few that I have seen in Julian Sprungs book that I am always keeping my eye open for.

wickedfrags 10-18-2007 12:38 PM

Which morph is that?

The green and pink colony will find a permanent home in my display. Where, I do not know! Two frags will be available.

digital-audiophile 10-18-2007 01:39 PM

I'd need to scan the pages. One example in the book is of the torch variety and it is light blue with dark blue tips, the other example is the hammer style with a pink/red body and green tips.

Do you have a photo of the green/and pink that you are keeping? I would love to see it.

mark 10-18-2007 01:50 PM

To get a tank like that only to pulled it down, I can't imagine being able to.

Good scoop for you though.

wickedfrags 10-18-2007 03:46 PM

I should be able to get one reasonably easy. I will see what I can do tonight.

I hear you! I could not imagine someone coming into my house and starting to bag-up all my nicest corals! His was the nicest mixed tank I had ever seen. Reason he took it down was that he was moving. The last time he moved with his 90G he lost alot of stuff because of the delays, lawyers, keys, the people are not gone when they said they will be gone, time it takes to back set-up ect. He did not want to risk it again, or burden people with trying to maintain all his stuff. He will also be getting up a much larger system in a year or two once he finishes his new basement. Still could not of ben easy.

michika 10-18-2007 03:48 PM

At least all of his stuff went to a good home. There is nothing like that peace of mind when you sell a fish, coral, or invert.

Chowder 10-18-2007 04:27 PM

When will this be available. That is one sweet piece.

do you do frag packs.

wickedfrags 10-19-2007 12:27 PM

This is available now. Looks like Rommel's watermellon acro where is gets a little less light. And ya, I agree it's pretty sweet!

I do appologize for not updating the site right away, having a full-time job and maintaining so much water is exhausting, mentally more than anything else, there are just soooo many things to do! And all the time...

Hey Ed - I do sell frag packs. I have various ways of doing this, and they generally consist of 10 frags. Send me an email when you are ready, I am confident we can work something out.
