Anyone using ZeoMag in their Ca reactor?
or dolomite?
I'm currently supplementing with magnesium chloride hexahydrate but I'm not comfortable with the amounts needed. I'm using http://reef.diesyst.com/ for the dose but the idea of adding nearly 3 cups of this stuff for an increase of 100ppm just seems Like a lot of extra stuff going into the tank. |
note to self, search first, sorry
|
I used it with slightly smaller amount (approx 10% total media volume) then on the label. Seemed to work out just fine for me with stable mag levels.

I'm running zeomag at about 10% total media volume in my reactor. Works like a hot damn and keeps my mg levels right where I want them
|
I used to use it until I switched to Tropic Marin Pro now I have no need. But as Christy said it worked like a hot damn (That's good right)

I am using ZEOmag in my calcium reactor and it seems to work quite well.

Ok I have to ask, what do you guys have in your systems that goes through so much Mg?
I add about 1 1/2 cups of Mg, that I ordered from littlesilvermax, every 3 months or so (whenever Mg drops below 1250) and thats it. |
I never had a problem with Mg until I started using IO salt. After a few months of using it my mg dropped (as well I was having problems with my reactor at that time) so I figured if I was sticking with IO (previously used Kent but then had a problem and switched) I had better supplement my Mg.
|
i've been running zeomag for the past few months and just recently dumped the rest of the bucket in my reactor because my mg read 1130 the other day. hopefully adding more will bring it up. i'm hoping this is why some of my pieces are suffering because i cant find anything else wrong
|
I use IO as well...have done for the last 15 years.
I had to go and check my tank after reading this thread because I realized the last time I checked Mg levels was before the fathers day BBQ and then it was at 1280. Now it is at 1230, time to add more Mg but that is only a 50ppm drop in 3 months. I wonder why I don't use up much  |
Thanks all.
Maybe I'm getting worked up with Mg as just started monitoring but when I first checked was 1000ppm (IO salt). Brought up by adding a whole lot of magnesium chloride and afraid if needing the large doses would be the norm, thought Mg via the reactor might be better. If marie's example of what I can expect, then maybe not so bad sticking with littlesilvermax's product after all I did get 20 lbs from him. Guess I'll monitor for a bit longer before buying ZeoMag. |
Where can one find some zeomag locally, or is it not around here?
|
Believe Golds was getting into Zeovit, might try them for the Mg
|
anywhere else?
|
Hidden Reef in BC has it.
As well OA carries something similar from the Faunamarin Ultralith line. http://oceanaquatics.com/store/produ...traMag-1000ml/ |
Can someone post a photo of their reactor?

Thanks Mark!
What about everyone who is running zeo mag? Are you just doing it in a regular Ca reactor? Do you just fill your reactor up with less media, or how does this work? |
From what I've been finding on ZeoMag is simply mix the product in with the Ca media at ~10% into a Ca reactor. No modifications to the reactor required.
|
Sounds very interesting. Thanks for filling me in Mark.
|
i just dump mine into my ca reactor along with my media. like mark said its about 10% of mg to ca media
