Nanochloropsis Phytoplankton
For anyone who wants to start a culture or just to feed to your tank, we now have a large culture of Nanochloropsis. Rotifers are still culturing and will be ready in another week or so. Live phytoplankton is $9.99 / 500 ml. We have also added another 600 gallons of saltwater to our fish room to keeo up with the increasing popularity of saltwater fish, corals and inverts.

Thanks Alan, The Iso ( live culture ) is proving to be hard to find in Canada.
Also, Do you have a source for S or SS Strain rotifers? Larry |
Hi Allan,
Ian here, the phyto cultures look great, I highly suggest that anyone not wanting to waist there money on DT's, Vivid Reef, etc. try the Phyto that Allan is culturing, it is 2-3 times darker and healthier than the pre packaged stuff. :-) |

Larry, I will look into it and let you know what I find. You also might be interested in a new product we received from one of our coral suppliers. The divers drag a plankton net behind the boat and collect live zooplankton which is condensed from approximately 100 cubic meters of seawater into a 180 ml bottle. it is then frozen and arrives with our coral shipments. It's very interesting stuff. You can see many different critters when you pour it into the tank. Small fish devour it and I'm told that there is much microscopic zooplankton in there as well. it must be kept in the fridge after it's thawed and lasts about a week. Regards, Alan |
Alan,
Please hold the Copperband for me and also frag off a peice of the red monti cap, I will be by next week to pick them up! |

Yes, I would be interested. I have had 4 failed attempts to get a culture started from Aqua Farm discs.
|
I was going to suggest Aqua Farm as I had really good luck with their disks in the past. As for other places to get it, sorry I'm not sure.

That copperband is yours. It is healthy as a horse and eating all kinds of food. It's nice to see that fish going to a tank where he will thrive. And the red monti frag isn't going anywhere so when you are ready I will snap a piece off. After all the frags you have given me, it's the least I can do! I will let you know when the other strains of phyto arrive, you might want to add another type to experiment with. P.S the rotifers are multiplying so fast I can't feed them all! Regards, Alan |
