Alright, here's what you've all been waiting for; I'll start with the 250 Deluxe Ext.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5100.jpg

Sexy... Well, no, it's no Albert, but that's beyond the scope of this thread.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5102.jpg

Red Dragon pump. Look at the stats on that thing, 1500 lph @ 48 watts????!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5109.jpg

Detail of the calcium bypass. Not too sure how it works, but it prevents wear down on the pump caused by calcium precipitation.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5103.jpg

Bubble plate detail. These are used to reduce turbulence within the skimmer body, allowing for greater attachment of DOC's to bubble surfaces.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5104.jpg

Skimmer feed.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5106.jpg

Air silencer assembly.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5107.jpg

Air silencer removed.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5108.jpg

Check that out! CNC milled parts only!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5110.jpg

Even the freaking cap on the cup drain is hand lathed! What the crap!

I was tempted to take the pump apart to look at the impeller, but couldn't find the damn screwdriver. Maybe tomorrow :)

albert_dao 08-25-2007 06:45 AM

Next up, Mini 160:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5111.jpg

I really, really, really want to bring one of these home. It would retire the Elos in a heartbeat, and I don't say that lightly; the Elos sexified my sump handily.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5112.jpg

Standpipe/twist-lock water level adjustment.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5113.jpg

?!?!?!?!??! 600 lph @ 18 watts - that's less than a Maxi-Jet 1200!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5114.jpg

Bubble plate.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5115.jpg

Easy lift cup.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/DSCF5116.jpg

Silencer.

Group shot :D

I have a few of each model, so swing by if you have any further questions on these things, I'll be glad to pull one down and detail it.

Albert

OMG thers a weeks pay check. Are they worth the prise?

albert_dao 08-25-2007 07:45 AM

Sure, if you're into top of the line stuff. The engineering, consruction quality and design on these things is top notch. Look at the air draw/wattage ratios; they blow everything, aside from the Sicce meshwheel pumps found on the BM's, out of the water and I'd bet they'd survive a short fall.

All aside, they definitely make many high end skimmers (Deltec's, Schuran's, Grotech's, Tunze Master DOC's, Euro Reef RC's and AquaMedic Turboflotor 5000's, etc) obsolete at their current price points.

Edit: You make a lot of money in a week :P

Snappy 08-25-2007 07:53 AM

Darn, it's too bad you didn't have those 2 months ago, I would have bought the 300 ext. Oh well I'll just have to live with my Euroreef RC500.

albert_dao 08-25-2007 08:01 AM

Man, I was totally thinking about your set up when I was unloading these things Greg :(

michika 08-25-2007 04:35 PM

Do you have any photos of them running? Whats the noise level like?

albert_dao 08-25-2007 04:53 PM

I'll hook up a couple of the Mini's today and see. Everyone who's used one has said that they're almost completely silent, you'll only hear a slight whisper from the air intake.

Will you be letting the minis run for a bit? I'm interested in them, but I'm concerned with how "icky" they look after they've run.

albert_dao 08-25-2007 05:00 PM

They'll be a permanent fixture once they're installed.

Moogled 08-25-2007 05:10 PM

Albert, what do you use to keep your hands looking so soft and silky?

albert_dao 08-25-2007 05:19 PM

I don't use anything in particular. However, my hands ARE quite soft and silky. I suspect it's your saliva Marco.

Jeff_ 08-27-2007 02:25 AM

I would love to see these things in action. remember to post pics

on a side note, the trigger and hammer are doing very well, thanks again

 bow chicka bow...

Are these set up in store yet Albert? Should I make a field trip of it? Bring the kids? And some peanuts to feed the staff?

albert_dao 08-31-2007 12:57 AM

Not yet, I haven't found the time. I really wanna pop one in a sump, but it's been such a hassle this week with school taking a lot of my work hours out off the table.

It's really queer, cause all I really have to do is pop one in a sump and plug it in. Dennis figures if it's not earlier in the day, like by 12 PM, it'll just take too long. :(

albert_dao 09-01-2007 08:20 PM

Okay, I fired up one of the Mini's. A couple people have come by and seen it already. A few notes:

- No microbubbles. Very well engineered. Not a single stray bubble exiting from the output.
- Virtually zero noise. None from the pump anyway. No vibrations either. The most you can hear is a slight whisper from the silencer intake.
- Super solid. I dropped one by accident. That was some LOL... Yeah, very well put together.

Anyone who wants to see them first hand should drop by.

Overall, I'm VERY impressed with the product. Pictures when I get home.

PS - I now have a used EuroReef RS 135 for sale. Regular retail $375, I'm looking for $225. PM me for more info.
