Any GVRD SCUBA divers want to try a group dive
Just throwing it out there. Anyone want to do a large group dive.
Dive site and date yet to be determined J |
I'm in. Don't have any dive buddies so that fixes that problem.
|
Great Dave what days are good for you?
and Do you have any where you want to go? |
I work from home / when I feel so any day usually works with a day notice. I've got dry/wet exposure suits - a small 50 alum, and the other necessities should probably find a couple steel 80's. I only have a small amount of dives under my belt - but now enroute to getting my rescue cert after dealing with my open and advanced in the past year..
indian arm has been attracting me a bit just because i have never dove in that region. but am open to anything! |

Hey Darryl Cprowler and I did Kelvin about 2 months ago. As long as you get a parking pass from Eagleridge marina you can park and dive.
It was mud until about 80' on the left side of the little bay. the wall on the right was very cool Would love to do that again. The parking is $8.00 for the day Dave when Are you going to do your Rescue. Ocean Quest is running a course the first or second week of Sept. I think I'll take it then J |
not entirely sure when the course will start - waiting for more people to hop on board at great pacific diving co (right down the st from my house). really interested in taking this as far as i can - gets me away from staring at a screen everyday - starting to get squirrely - of course when my new fishtank arrives things may change?

hey Jason, buddies of mine dive there all the time and just park in that upper parking lot(that's always empty...and close). they never have a problem with locals but i guess the $8 is cheap insurance too huh? lotsa wolf eels around there as well, good dive. the other spot that's pretty good but a bit of a hike is ansel point, worth consideration if you've not been there.
|
Last time I tried to get to Ansel it was all blocked up by big trees downed by Last winters storms.
do you know if that's been cleared J |
sorry, not knowing unfortunately...

I am an instructor but havnt dove our waters for 6 yrs now./ I worked in the Cayman Islands for 1 yr . 4 dives a day times 5 days a week for a yr. 1000+ dives got me lazy. The thought of all the work to suit up for cold water has lost my interest. I just fell off the boat with just swim trunks on . Dissapointing becauase our diving is amazing!!! I would suggest the Cut , at WhyteCliff park in Horshoe bay if you are experienced. Currents can rip so check the tides. Kelvine grove is great if you want to see the 18 foot plus octopus!!! At around 95 feet in the long crack on the solid wall face. Grab a crab, tap on the wall outside his den and he will put one of his arms out and take the crab from you. Wolf eels at ansell are great if they are still around. If you want a good day trip do the breakwater at ogden point victoria or one of the destroyers sunk around nanaimo. Have fun!!
|
I'm a Divemaster & still dive quite often, if we're gonna do this, why not go big? Let's hit the Saskatchawan in Nanaimo. I'll never get tired of her.
|
Ok so it looks like there might be some interest.
I would love to jump over to the Island and dive the Sask, but how about the first one be local to get some interest. I know the wolf eels are gone from Ansel. I tried 3 times to find them. I'd love to do Kelvin again Cprowler and I are going to do a night dive @ whytecliffe Monday night. If anyone wants to join. If not we can still set something up for next week end or behond J |
Hey Jason,
It was good to get out yesterday even if it was WC. I would like to go again in the next week or so, possibly Ansel or Kelvin. Talk to you later |
Sounds good to me.
J |
where'd you guys end up goin?
|
Just to Whytecliff.
I think it's seastar mateing season there where millions all over the place. Whytecliff usually has tons of seastars but this was 10X more than I'm used to + We couldn't find the field of plume Anemones J |
Anyone want to go diving?
|
I am looking for a dive partner(s) too.
I would like to do an easy local dive first to knock off the ring rust and to get used to my new BCD (ooh la la  ). I can do the following dates in June: Wed 11 Thurs 12 Mon 16 Tues 17 Sun 22 Tues 24 Wed 25 Sun 29 Perhaps anyone interested can chip in and we could firm up a date and see who shows. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...-22-070211.jpg That's me with the hat on. |
Jack are you working Nights this week. Maybe an evening dive would work for all
J |
Yah Im on nights this week.
Im off Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week for diving. |
So Friday evening is no good for you Dale?
|
Sorry, not this time. Dad duty.
If you guys go have fun and keep me in mind for those other dates. |
Dale, I sent you a PM.
Jason, lets do a night dive on Friday. Anyone else interested? |
keeping the dream alive
Is anyone interested in going out Sunday June 22nd?
Kelvin, Whytecliff, Porteau, Whiskey cove? If we could get a group together for a local dive or two perhaps we could start planning to jump over to the island next. |

|
Anyone what to try again?
|
Ok.
|
Great When do you want to go. Oh wait didn't we just go on Sunday LOL
J |
Hi Guys;
I just started a dive club at work where we have 10 divers. We have dove the caves on pender island, ogden point and other local dives so far and have our dives planned for the rest of the year. Hornby island diving with the sealions and six gills on last weekend of May and such, so if you are looking for others to go dive with, then we are usually game for local dives or even if you want to join us on group dives to nanaimo or hornby, then feel free. |
