All models of Koralia are on the shelves. Lots of stock, killer prices, here's the upgrade to the old SEIO's that everyone's been waiting for.

Silent, reliable, wide gentle flow patters; these powerheads are definitely a great, cheaper alternative to the Tunze Nano Streams (which are also stocked at Gold Aquariums).

i finaly broke down and got one and they are sweet,i replaced a seio 820 with a Koralia 3 wich is 850gph and it made a tornado compared to the crappy flow my seio was pushing out plus it has a magnet holder so its nice and compact in all those biocube out thier.

I agree. I replaced my Tunze Nanostream 6025 with a Koralia 3, and so far I've been very happy with the change. The bracket that held the Nanostream in place finally broke in two places. Considering the impellar that needed replacing twice, a broken bracket clip, and now a shattered bracket....I'm done with the Nanostream.

P.S. Having railed against the Nanostream, I will say that when I had a problem, their customer service was amazing.

i replaced a Koralia 1 with a Tunze nanostream 6025, and it was a huge upgrade in flow. Although it seems more linear than the wide flow created by the Koralia 1. I've had the Tunze break in the same spot, the clips that secure it to the magnet, but have had no problems as of yet with the impeller. As soon as it goes, the Koralia is going back in.

Plus there is a lot less chance of fish getting stuck to a Koralia.

can these be placed on a wavemaker?

Not a traditional one. You can only use them with wavemakers that are able to throttle down an AC current without actually shutting it off (eg. SEIO controller... which also happens to be the only product on the market that can do this at the time of speaking).

I believe Hydor will be releasing a wavemaking unit for their Koralia's by the end of this year in addition to both a smaller and larger Koralia model.

Also, because it needs mentioning:

A lot of people may be turned off by the very low pricing vs output of these pumps. I've seen a lot of uneducated assumptions about these things being the poor man's Tunze. The truth is, as is evidenced by a few posts above this, these things are rock solid, put out a more desirable flow pattern and have a much more robust mounting bracket (weaker magnet, though). Definitely not a poor man's anything.

One thing to bear in mind is that the Koralia 1 only puts out 400 gph, while the 6025 does 1189 gph. Comparitively, it would be more appropriate to contrast the 6025 with the Koralia 4.

However, I will say that Tunze has some very ingenious engineering on the Nanostream series as the 6025 has an energy consumption of only 8 watts vs the 12 of the Koralia 4. But in the grand scheme of things, who really cares, eh?

How does the size of they Hydor 4 compare to the Seio 1500?

About the same, better mounting bracket though. I can show you next time you're in the store man. I have all sizes running atm.

sweet.. Wicked deal if the output is 1200 gph..save 25-30 bucks on the magnet alone

The smaller version should be available Mid September and should be dirt cheap as far as I have found out.
As well, on the seio controller, you can run quite a few more koralias that you could Seio's due to the extrememly low wattage. I am currently running 4 koralia 4's on the seio wavemaker with no problems for about 3 months.

Actually, the Nanostream 6025 is rated at approximately 660gph. The 6045, however, is rated at 1189gph.

i have the #4, it replaced 2 nano streams for me... my nano's were noisey and unreliable... the #4, is AWSOME in my 50gal tank, tons of flow and completly silent... not quite as small as the nano's but better overall i'd say.

Forgive my ignorance guys but you can run Koralias on Seio Controllers?? What I am reading says they will only run seio pumps, but then naturally they would say that.

Yup, you should have no problems running Koralia's on SEIO controllers. Lots of people in the States have done so ever since these things hit the market with no ill effect.

So do the controllers power them right off, or does it bring it down to where the impeller is hardly spinning. I ask becuase I have started to have a couple issues with my Korlia 4's when I turn off the flow for feeding when I turn the back on the don't always fire up right away, they either need a tap or to cycle to power a couple times to get them started. I had this issue with Seios and I hated them.

They power them down, to my understanding.
