Greeting from wickedfrags.com!

Greeting from wickedfrags.com!

First, let me say that while the name of the vender forum is “Wicked Reefs”, the business name and website is in fact wickedfrags.com. I have contacted canreef.com about getting this changed. You will also see the wickedfrags.com banner in rotation shortly as a reminder to check out the site from time to time.

For those who I have not met or chatted with in the past, and to keep the introduction short and to the point, please take a look at the website. Of particular interest should be the “About Wickedfrags”, “Shipping” and “Arrive Alive Policy”. You may also notice some pretty sweet frags!

Please note wickedfrags.com will officially open for business on Sunday July 1, 2007. There will be a cool little grand opening special for the first five customers which will be announced on the site.

If you have any questions please feel free to post them here, send me a PM, or contact me through the website. Also, I have included some information on our Vision and Values that I have not yet added to the website. I think it is worth a read.

Thanks.
Dave (220G)

Yay!

I've been drooling over your website for the past few weeks. Its great to hear that your finally ready to launch.

Chaloupa 06-21-2007 04:47 PM

nice site...and nice corals! glad to see it...much easier this way!

wickedfrags 06-21-2007 06:23 PM

Thanks for all the kind words.

I did spend quite a bit of time deciding on the layout of the site, hoping that it would be user friendly, professional and attractive while performing well (I know how we hate waiting for pages to load). I also decided it would be best to put all the corals in their respective categories and available on one page, so it is easy to compare all zoas/sps ect. at the same time.

I should mention that I think I have already shipped to most provinces across Canada, and that I only use the very best shipping containers. They cost ALOT more, but they are worth it. If they were not so often re-used by hobbyists I would pay to have them returned to me.

Hi Dave, have you decided about airport to airport shipping?

wickedfrags 06-21-2007 09:31 PM

No decisions to date. I have been contacted by two people requiring this type of service so far, as it appears most service providers have pretty good next day coverage throughout Canada. I will probably revisit this closer to the fall when I have a better idea and people start spending more time looking at their tanks.

I hate the idea of not providing this service, but the drive for me to get to the airport can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes with good old Toronto traffic, and that’s one way, without the administrative side at the airport.

Perhaps there is the ability to get in on a group order in the interim?

Could you use a local delivery or courier to get the cargo from your place to the airport?

shelleyr 06-21-2007 10:57 PM

Carl Swaby

I notice Carl Swaby's name on one of the SPS pictures. Are you connected with Frag Factory?

michika 06-21-2007 11:06 PM

Will you still be using frags.org as one of your advertising venues?

wickedfrags 06-21-2007 11:25 PM

Wickedfrags.com is not connected with Frag Factory at all, completely separate companies.

I know Carl personally and see him regularly at local shipments, and he is the competition!!! And how dare you mention that store in my thread!!! Kidding of course - fair question.

To elaborate further, I acquired that specific coral through a trade with Carl sometime in 2004/2005. To my knowledge my colony is the last remaining piece as all other colonies/fragments were lost. As this is a truly unique coral, I do credit Carl as it was his colony originally. I am the farmer of the colony photographed on the site.

I hope to feature/make available corals of some other skilled hobbyists in the near future, hopefully before the grand opening. As Carl now has his own business, as do I, it is unlikely you will see Carl's name beside any other corals on my site in the immediate future. If something changed, I will be sure to advise my customers. Thanks.

It is unlikely I will be able to update canada.frags.org on a regular basis now that I have my own website. The combination of my other job, taking care of ALL the tanks, looking for new corals, photographing them, and updating the site will keep me pretty darn busy!

It is my hope that frags.org may direct some traffic to my website, but I do not intend on updating it regularly at this time. This could of course change depending on how things go.

Currently my intent is to make Canreef my primary forum outside of Ontario. In Ontario I will be updating hobbyists through reefescape.ca. Again, I may visit some other forums initially but I can only commit to maintaining great service by being active in all locations.

Nice site and beautiful corals. I am unfortunately in the same position as Hawk in that the only way I could purchase corals from you is with airport to airport service. Group buys are not an option as the closest place to me that might have overnight delivery is still at least a 5 hour drive - one way - and that is to Prince George where I don't think there are enough reefers to make a group buy possible. Edmonton is another option as there are way more people but that is an 8 hour one way drive.
Just the same you have some really nice stuff and good luck with your new business venture.

wickedfrags 06-22-2007 12:24 PM

I will review this over the weekend. For those people who require the airport to airport service please contact me directly via PM, or through the website. Thanks.

Also, for those considering getting some frags from Marc, not only does he have some great pieces, he did the best job of packaging corals for shipment I have EVER seen.

Hey Dave, Amazing stuff!

just one question. With the SPS frags you have sizes like "small" what would someone expect small, medium, large to be?

Sorry if this is explained on the site I tryed to look for it but could find any explanation

thanks
Jason

blennie 06-25-2007 11:51 PM

i got this from another forum.

extra small apx. 1/2"
small apx. 3/4" to 1" (generally 1")
medium apx. 1" to 2"
large apx. 2" to 3"
extra large apx. 3"+

wickedfrags 06-25-2007 11:57 PM

frag sizing

bigbadblenny - Thanks! Look forward to hearing from you.

Jason McK - Again, thanks. I am pretty happy with the tank these days.

Fair question regarding the sizing - I will be adding this information to the website shortly. The information is provided below. I will try and be as consistent and generous as possible with the size of the frags.

Frag Sizing
extra small 1/2"
small 3/4" to 1" (generally trying for 1")
medium 1" to 2"
large 2" to 3"
extra large apx. 3"+

Thanks,
Dave
