Do you have Red Bugs?

Come on, be honest.

marie 05-31-2007 01:59 AM

I treated the tank for them last year and i have been keeping careful watch ever since

I have been fairly lucky as far as pests go. No aiptasia or majano to date. No red bugs. No nudibranches or evil crabs.

no, thanks to your gift of Interceptor

Snappy 05-31-2007 03:16 AM

I discovered I had them in January and treated the tank and I haven't seen any since. Your poll should have asked " have you ever had them?" as well. That said, there are worse things to have like the acro eating flatworms. YIKES!!! I now treat everything before I put it in my reef.

Reefer Rob 05-31-2007 03:29 AM

Treated for red bugs when I set up the new tank. Every acro that I have brought home from an aquarium store has had red bugs, so every one that goes into my tank gets a 12 hour Interceptor treatment.

Been there done that a couple of times. Treated earlier this year and currently red bug free.

I've had to treat some acros in QT, but haven't had them in my tank.

Chaloupa 06-18-2007 01:01 AM

Do they only affect Acro's or other corals other than that? Thanks!

Joe Reefer 06-19-2007 02:03 PM

As far as I know they only affect smooth skin acros. I did read on RC once that someones monti's had them also, but I am not sure how much truth that holds.

christyf5 06-19-2007 02:31 PM

And they seem to affect frags or smaller colonies more than larger ones. I found that if I had a frag that didn't have its polyps out for a longer period (say a week or more) I would take a closer look and sure enough, there they were. :twised:

UGH....nasty little things then eh? a good reason to Q any acros! Thank you!

When I had them they infested my M danae. They had webs on a bunch of corals. Sort of like marine "spider mites". I wish your poll would show who answered and how.

I answered "No". But, then.....I've never had Acros before. Or any SPS for that matter, so the numbers could be misleading....in a way.
Sorry. I, for one, should have ignored this poll.

Cheers,
