love that left column

BTW i love that left column display.

I agree it's a nice addition making things very user friendly. Well maybe it's mostly the look that I like.

Tangman 05-19-2007 07:20 PM

Sorry , I don't agree, I HATE it.
Just my 2 cents....

EmilyB 05-19-2007 07:34 PM

Is there a way to get rid of it when you start reading posts? Everything is squished over on the right now.

Seems to have slowed down the loading time for the pages.

Chaloupa 05-20-2007 01:20 AM

I like the left column...but it does seem that the site is very very slow....

SeaHorse_Fanatic 05-20-2007 02:16 AM

I was wondering why it took so long to open up a new page.

andsoitgoes 05-20-2007 05:40 AM

I'd like it on my computer, but because I view this primarily on my mobile device, I'd prefer to have it off, as I do with profile pics.

Anyway, with the option to have it on, it's fine, otherwise can it go away, please? :)

Seems the whole site is generally alot slower. If this is the cause, I could do without it. Seems the majority, so far, would like to see it removed.

Cheers,

Hello,

Yeah it does seem to make the site slower, though it's mostly due to Snappy's huge tank (I haven't made a scaled down version so it's actually downloading the full size image each time). I'll fix it sometime.

Andsoitgoes, when you said mobile device, you meant laptop on 802.11?

Titus - I'm using a Hiptop (equivalent to a blackberry) for the most part.

titus 05-20-2007 04:29 PM

Hello,

Hiptop?! Never heard of that before.

Okay I've scaled the image and it seems to keep things the same. CPU load shot up to 10 juat a few moments ago with MEM utilization went up to way over 90%. As soon as I turned the side bar off, it speeded things up considerably.

So we'd have to leave it off for now. Unless I get a memory upgrade.

Tangman 05-20-2007 07:05 PM

Ruth 05-20-2007 10:38 PM

Yeah Greg - it is all your fault - I think you better ditch those corals.....and......um.....I know where you can ditch them:mrgreen:

speed over content

although I liked the left column, i can see a dramatic difference in speed which was aweful with the left column display. I prefer the speed over the content.
