they're beautiful, supposedly easy care and really hard to get. I would jump at the chance to get some if I lived down in the lower mainland...dependant on cost of course

order

I reall wanted some and the only way I could get any is a whole colony and its a little pricey so thought I'd see if anyone here wanted a couple heads but apparently I should have ordered more.will try to make sure evryone gets some.Clint

justinl 04-12-2007 01:54 AM

depending on the price I would even be happy with a single full head. I did a little research on them (like any good aquarist should... im such an angel:mrgreen: ) and here's what ive got so far:

their scientific name is duncanopsammia axifuga (aka duncans or whisker coral). they are photosynthetic (ie they have zoothanthellae) and therefore can survive well with just light but won't grow very fast. However, since chances are, we'll all be getting frags to grow, we'll want to grow them quickly. I know i do. so what's the trick? well there isn't a whole lot of info available but it seems that once you start feeding it meaty food (4-5 mysids twice a week) they explode in terms of growth.

they prefer lower light and low to moderate flow. luckily enough they are quite sticky for corals and thus are quite easy to feed.

to learn to frag and for some niiiice pictures of them scroll about a third of the way down this page....

hope that helped you guys out. these are rare corals, so i want you all to take good care of them. (... yes mum)

CLINT 04-12-2007 03:20 AM

well if they get here I'll seriously take the whole cutting it up with a dremel thing into consideration:redface:looks real easy as a 4 step proccess lol Clint

justinl 04-12-2007 03:55 AM

have you ever fragged before? just curious. i never have myself.

CLINT 04-12-2007 04:02 AM

fragged sps enchino's rics so I dont think it'll be that tough.just try 1 and see if it ever opens back up.lol.Clint

draco 04-12-2007 04:03 AM

I would get some in edmonton if anyone gets them.I also have a friend who would like them too also in edmonton.
