nice hood it seems short thou. Are you having a chiller installed for the tank?
|
Looking very cool so far!
|
I was planning to install six 40CFM cooling fans to bring air in and out of the hood. I hope this is enough air movment otherwise I will rebuild with 2ft of height instead of 8inches. I was trying to make the hood as compact as I can.
What height from the water is it sugested to have the bulbs? |
Alright I'm starting to layout the cooling, I went and picked up some heavy duty cooling fans two 100 CFM fans and two 32CFM fans thats a total of 264 cubic feet of air moving a min. here is some pics of a layout. any help would be great thx

Look Great! Hows the Yellow tang doing? And did you get rid of the starfish?
|
The little yellow tang is doing great, he is just a young one and when he gets older hes going into a very large FOWLR. I still have the sand sifting star he's under the substrate somewhere.

I did some aqua-scaping and made some more ledges and caves so that I can add more coral. I made a large cave at the top with a large ledge in front of it. I also added hammer coral and sun coral. I just have to decide on which coral I want next to sit on the upper center ledge. It is a med/high light and med flow area, any suggestions of a good piece of coral for this spot? I am saving the very top ledges for sps.
I am also planing on selling my yellow tang and replacing him with a flame angel, I have had success with a flame in my previous reef set-up which was a 90 gal but I am curious about the flame angel in a smaller reef set-up. Has anyone had bad experiences with a flame picking on their corals or presently have a well behaved flame in a smaller reef (30-55 gal) Thank-you http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...r/jan20082.jpg |
Very nicely done and well planned. Looking really good. Regards Ken
|
here is a pic of my new addition to my reef. so far he has been very well behaved and hasen't touched any coral. It took a lot of shots to get a good one because he is always on the move but with a fast shutter speed I was able to finally snap a good one.

Looks really good. I generally don't like the backs of tanks painted blue, but yours looks really nice like that. Have you added any other coras to the top rockwork shelf you created?
