What is the tap water TDS count in your area?
Always wondered what is the TDS count in different areas?
I used to live in Burnaby it was 21ppm. Now I am in Port Moody and it is now 12 ppm, however last summer after the wind storm it went up to 45ppm |
Last time I checked, it was about 13 here in Coquitlam.

You guys got it made. Mine is 185 tds in SE Calgary
|

185 is low compared to many places that are on wells, they have up to 600+.
I am at 86-92 in Winnipeg. |
13 in Nanaimo
|
i think mine was around 220 in chestermere
|
'round 155 last I checked NE calgary. I get 'bout 30 off the RO, then 0 after the DI. my girlfriend's alkaline well is >999. The meter only goes to 999, so I'm guessing it's at least a thousand :)
|
You guys don't really need RO in Van, just a couple DI cartridges will do the trick. What are most of you running for water filtration out there?
|
API Tap Water Purifier! :)

City of Calgary posts there water quality at a TDS of 177-290 mg/L
|
Also post a calcium level of approx. 40 - 70 mg/L
|
Tds
Try 360 here in the prairies and 45 minutes west it's 800
|
last summer and fall is was hovering around 60ppm and over the winter it's crept up to around 95.

My TDS readings were in the 7-10 range in Coquitlam. I originally thought my meter was broken. Now, I've learned that we just have clean water....

Yes we are very lucky out here on the Wet coast. Our water is very soft because we don't use well water except for a few homes and our water is all rainwater collected and stored in reservoirs (spell check).
When I bred Discus a friend of mine in Vancouver sent Mike Wells a well known discus breeder a sample of our water. He informed her our water was to soft to sustain life, for discus he recommended adding R/O Right, just a small amount but yep she had to add to the water. The one thing we need to be concerned about in regards to our water is what is being added, chloramines, flouride etc... Over one summer I found our pH swinging from 6.8 to 5ish to almost 7 and then all over the place again. Because we have no buffering capacity in our water a bit of rain can make some dramatic changes in pH etc... I agree a DI filter fits our needs perfectly, API Tap Water Purifier is my filter of choice. Doug |
Well i think us in Brandon ,Manitoba have the worst mine was at
945 ppm i think i win :twised: |
Wait till spring rains, then see who wins
|
We have 12-13 in Langley and my Aquasafe RO/DI filters last forever.

The only reason we use RO out here is to remove the turbidity from the water. After a good rain the water can take on a brown appearance, which just isn't removed with the standard 1 micron filters.

Been awhile since I measured the tap so won't try to remember but I'm amazed with those single digit readings. It's almost as low I get with a ro/di unit.
|
 Mine is about 1800ppm from my well. Needless to say I buy all my water from a local water store that I know well and trust their testing and system.
|
115 here in Prince George
|
Hey Russell you made it on!
I think the last time I checked it was 135 in Walnut Grove. We can't even wash our vehicles at home- too many water spots. 5 km down the road in Port Kells the water is way better. Walnut Grove water is from the Coquitlam water shed, and Port Kells water is from the Capilano. I'm suprised to see others in the Coquitlam water shed have a much lower TDS. We must be at the end of the line! |
