Holy mackerel, nice setup.
Question, why did you go with 2 bends on the intake side of your sump return? It looks like the pump could have fit sitting perpendicular (although sticking out a little) and then you'd only have to worry about one 90 degree bend. (To be honest I'm not sure about this whole restricting the input of pump, about how far you need to go with that. I had 2 90's on my pump a few years ago but I stepped up the pipe size to be on the safe side, things were fine. But I've seen people not feel right about even using a bushing on a pipe to fit a 1.5" pump input to a 1" bulkead. So I'm not sure where I sit on this one.) I was gonna comment about how clean the plumbing looks, but then I realized after looking at the skimmer closeup that they must be dryfitted in the first few pictures there. :p Nevertheless that is an amazing maze of pipework, good work!! How does the fuge drain into the sump, I don't see the drain line for that one? Come to think of it .. I don't see the feed line going into the tank, is it capped off for now? I see it start and can follow it along to a point, then suddenly I don't see it anymore. |
The plumbing hurts my head.
Looks like one bad ass setup. Looking forward to the progression. |
The was no real reason for the extra bends on the return side of the pump. I did know how I wanted the supply manifold postioned so this was what drove the pump location. On a side note the pump performs better than I expected and is amazingly quiet.
The upper prop tank drains into the fuge below then out the side of the fuge back to the sump. I know the glue job looks bad but there was not one leak when I tested the tank with fresh water and to be honest I planned on painting all the plumbing when done, but it probably isn't going to happen now. |
Musta finally got cold enough to motivate you to get it outta garage so you can park in there huh?
Looks awesome man I love this set up can't wait till everything is moved over |
The glue job looks fine, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Just that I thought you had done all clear primer/cement until I had a closer look.
Ok so if the line I was thinking was the fuge feed isn't ... is it just an extra line for "just in case"? On your manifold it's the one on the left. I see a pipe extend out to the filter sock but I can't make out where it goes from there. That's the one I was asking if it's capped off? |

probably for water changes that what I did....just pump off into a pail
|
nice work. nice drywalling, wanna come down and do my drywall?

Looks great even without water

This sucks with a 50gal/day RO unit. Its more like 30/day!

Well, that's new for me, great idea! |
This is what the rock is.

Hey Lando, that's looking awesome. I'll have a few frags for you when you get that all working, as a bribe for an invitation to gawk.
Matt |
Well I got most of the rock moved tonight. The rest will be done over the weekend.

Tank looks empty now Lando. I think you need more rock..
|
No way man, I think it looks great like that. More room for the fish to swim in.
|
Looks like your tank Harv.. minus the corals.
|
I have about 30lbs left in the other tank and some in the sump I found that the more rock I added, the more the flow dynamics I was looking for diminished, so this is what I am left with. I was shooting for a reef top zone.

Hmm, maybe that's why I'm partial to it  Soon it'll look better than my tank...my tank is about to become an empty glass box  |
