glass cutter in edmonton

Anyone know where I can find a glass cutter in edmonton? Homo depot doesn't carry them.

crystal glass had them last time i checked...they will also cut glass reasonably cheap ( not that cheap but, not that exensive either..)

home depot has them. They are in the paint section I believe.

Home Depot carries them for sure... but i think i found my in the paint section for some strange reason...i also saw them in the section beside all the drill bits..... in any case, "Homo Depot" definately carry them

Lol, I noticed that too:lol:

Are these glass cutters simply for scoring(like, little diamond wheel utensils), or are we talking about bits, glass drills, etc...?

As mentioned home depot carries them (as does rona, totem, canadian tire) you'll pretty much have to ask as they bury them in the silliest places.

For 10$ it costs to buy one - you could just rent a wet tile saw, they cut glass really nice - and give you a nice safe almost polished edge. Also easier to use than the glass scorers.

It's for cutting a baffle out of a sump. re: http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=29017
Homo depot and Crappy tire in the north end (clareview) definitely do not carry glass cutters . I have checked both up and down and twice.

but did you ask?

hqgc 12-17-2006 04:57 AM

Oh ya, I asked. Many different associates and a manager at H.D. Seems like quite a quest for such a simple tool.

KrazyKuch 12-17-2006 06:03 PM

Go to north end rona they have them...they will located in the tool department! Probably around all the exacto Knives

Sorry to rain on your parade, but you wont be able to use a score type glass cutter to remove baffles... to cut glass it has to be free - as you score then apply pressure just right to snap... If it's siliconed in - you can't apply the correct pressure.

Razor blade and patience - will get it out.

Well is that a fact...Learn something new every day. I have a wetsaw in my shop and NEVER thought it would cut glass..Not a commercial one but it has cut LOTS of tile. Thanks for the tip.

Any tips on cutting glass or just the same as tiles?

Thx

Rich.....

Advice? don't cut the glass into squares and put it on the floor...? :)

KrazyKuch 12-19-2006 01:25 AM

If you know anyone work in AGF in edmonton then you are in luck.. they are Glass distrubutor (can't spell it ).. to major glass dealer out there. They cut glass with computer and everything look so professional out of it. Used to know someone work in there but moved to the Calgary Head office.

I used to get all my aquarium glass there with very good deal
