Crap it's cold

Only one vehicle out of 3 in my yard would start even though all are plugged in. With the wind chill it is like -42. At least I am not shovelling snow - just packing wood!

Der_Iron_Chef 11-27-2006 03:44 PM

Yikes! Thank goodness for heated underground parking

OCDP 11-27-2006 03:46 PM

-39 here in Calgary w/ wind chill.

Friggin' cold.

christyf5 11-27-2006 03:47 PM

Cripes! And here I am griping about it being -3 here

Although I'm doing more griping about the fact that I drove in to work today when I could have used the snow as a perfectly good excuse to stay home in bed.

Actually folks, the windchill factor has no bearing on parked vehicles. They only respond to the ambient temperature. Windchill factor is based on heat loss.:lol:

What if the wind is blowing straight at the front of your car when it's parked. Found out the hard way when it was frozen for a week.

I knew I would get an argument. It makes no difference if the wind is blowing right at the car. It is all about the ambient temperature, and heat loss. A cold car engine has no more heat to lose. However, just to end the argument why don't you go out and put a thermometer in the wind, and one that is sheltered from the wind. You will find no temperature difference.

Pescador 11-27-2006 11:40 PM

That makes sense, so it would only make it cool down faster but not any colder.

OCDP 11-27-2006 11:40 PM

Brrrrr

KrazyKuch 11-28-2006 08:58 PM

Chaloupa 11-28-2006 09:36 PM

We have a beautiful sunny day here too...can't say as we are overly cold at -8 compared to the rest of you! Sure is pretty though and a different snow than normal. Kind of a nice change...if only we could have a white Christmas...now that would make it all worth while!:x-mas:
