ELVIS is a year old
Well in my tank anyway. I know that this is not really a huge deal except that these fish have such a poor track record of surviving even more that a month in captivity. For the record I did not order this fish but was asked if I would give it a try when it came in on a shipment and was at the store when I was having some other fish shipped up. He lives in a 190g tank with a huge (roughly 12-14") blonde Naso Tang (Tank) - a large ( 10+") Conspic Angel, a Goldflake Angel, a Maroon Clown a Helfrichi Firefish and a Mandarin. He eats EVERYTHING. Nori, frozen, flake, pellet, and his favorite is clam. He is probably a good 6" tall and about the same long if you don't count his top banner. He is a tough guy too - got the crap kicked out of him by my SOB yellow tang when I tried to put him in my 230g tank then he was OK for about 2 months then fin rot set in and he had virtually no tail or bottom fin. He is now fully healed from that and fat and bossy.
Just thought I would share a somewhat success story. Here is an older picture of him - please excuse the dirty glass. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...h/IMG_3761.jpg |
Awesome Ruth !

Thanks Deb! I know that lost your Moo and didn't want to bring back bad memories for you. Elvis is probably around the same size a Moo was and is a character as well. I don't think I have taken too many pictures of his tank without him being in them.

Clean the glass!! |
Fantastic Ruth!!
Ive always loved these Fish. They always seem so proud and regal. It must be a joy to watch and care for. hehe "What she (Christy) said" ... about "cleaning the Glass" :p |
Yes Congrats Ruth, on a very healthy and beautiful fish
and yes many of us will remember moo for a long time  and what those other two clowns said, nawww I like the purple spotted fish in the forground myself  |
Ok Ok so maybe - just maybe I am a bit lazy but man cleaning the purple fish off of acrylic is hard! And I have a big a$$ conspic angel in there that thinks when I put my hand in the tank it means food - and he is a piggy. Besides I don't want to scratch my acrylic and at least I have coraline growing and OK so I'm lazy and chicken little.
Oh and Elvis says thanks - he thinks he is very pretty as well - and he thinks I am lazy too because I can't take as nice a picture of him with the spots on the tank. |
Well done Ruth. Would love to see a recent pic.

Give yourself a pat on the back Ruth. You have a right to celebrate considering their track record. I think, as with most fish, once it gets past the initial adjustment period, then it will do fine as long as its needs are met. Obviously, you're doing a great job meeting the Elvis's needs. So where's the cake? You can't have a party without cake:lol:
