Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin dead at 44
|
 oh no. that is so sad.
He was a great character. he will be greatly missed. |
Thats sad
I feel sad for his wife and children. I watched his show all the time.
|
Wow.
He sure didn't steer clear of death much on a daily basis.. |
It is trully sad to hear about this.
I am sorry for his wife and kid. But in truth I am amazed he lived as long as he did. The guy was insane, I think that is what we all loved so much about him. Kricky Mate, well miss ya. |
I have a lot of sympathy for his family, but he put himself in harm's way too often to live long. In my mind's eye, I imagine he was "wrangling" the ray when it got him. All due respect, and not meaning to speak ill of the dead, but the man was reckless.

Guess he died what he loved doing not to be taken by disease or anything...... just surprised it never happened sooner

I don't know if we will ever see another person with as much enthusiasm and passion as Steve. The man obviously had a lot self confidence in dealing with the wild and it was so entertaining to watch. It is so unfortunate for the world and more so for his friends and family that he has left this earth while in his prime.
My condolences to his family. This is quite a loss. |
Sad to see him go.
He got so many young people interested in nature and our world. He was not anymore reckless or insane than a dog catcher chasing down a rabid dog is. He was a proffessional who knew exactly what he was doing and what the animals he was working with were doing / capable of. Rays rarely sting unless the feel very threatened, the article says the were just filming a documentary and swiming amongst them when one decided to sting him, and unfortnately it hit him in the heart. Anywhere else and he might have survived. My condolences to his family. :( |
Wow. I'm just stunned to hear this. Agreed, not too surprising to see him go before his time, in a thing like this, but nevertheless still a very colourful personality who will be greatly missed by many (myself included).

News of Steve’s death was incredibly shocking & tragic. He’s one of my favorite icons, gone. I feel sad for his wife & little one’s that’s were left behind dealing with his tragic loss. I admired his enthusiasm & passion for what he did. I loved watching his shows, his energy and his commitment for conservation. I loved the fact that he got so many youngsters interested in wildlife, excited to explore. It comes in great sadness of the freak accident that occurred to him really. What are the odds that a stingray stabbed him in the heart with its poisonous 20cm barb. One thing for sure, it taught me more about the Stingray. I didn't even know the Stingray had what looks and acts like a razor sharp, serrated knife, then packs the punch with a variety of poisonous toxins on it to! YIKS! Google pictures and see!
See Steve has now taught us more with his dead. He died doing the things he loved. Rest in Peace Steve. God bless. We will miss you. |
Yes he truly was a special icon who will be sorely missed. His enthusiasm was addicting to watch!
But what a way to go. I'm sure he would have wanted it this way, rather than to grow old and pass away due to old age or illness. RIP. |
