Quiet Submersible Pump

Is there such a thing? I was running a Mag 36 but it was way too loud. Now I have a Mag 24 and it's not enough flow. Any suggestions?

Red Devil are totally quiet but also totally expensive.

rudy 04-19-2006 02:27 AM

Run two mag 1800's I could stand my 2400 so I went with two 1200s and can hardly hear it

Poopy 04-19-2006 03:14 AM

I run a pump from Oase, it was made for freshwater ponds, but it is almost totally silent. They also have a 3 year warranty.

Aquamedics are really good and quiet.

I like the idea of two Mag 18's but heat is a big factor on my tank. Where's a good link for Aquamedics that can be purchased in Canada?

Try this link for aqua medic. http://www.aqua-medic.com/dealers/vi...ada&state=None

you can also use sedra pumps. they are also used on asm skimmers.

GMGQ 04-19-2006 05:47 PM

I run an EHEIM 1260. Love it. Cant hear it.

Gizmo 04-19-2006 07:42 PM

I use a QuietOne 4000, great pump, can't hear a thing out of it.

Jaws 04-19-2006 11:55 PM

The last three pumps are good but they aren't enough flow for what I want. I'm looking for something around 3500gph.

Willow 04-20-2006 12:12 AM

dang.. you should really be thinking about a external pump if your looking for that sort of flow.

Jaws 04-20-2006 06:34 AM

I would but I'm really limited to space outside the sump since my Ca Reactor and all it's components take up so much space plus I'd have to drill the sump too. That'll definitely be the plan for next time.

Ruth 04-20-2006 12:56 PM

Is this pump for your return or your closed loop? If for your return from your sump why so much flow? If for your closed loop any way to mount an external pump directly under your tank using brackets?

Jaws 04-20-2006 09:37 PM

It is for the return. I want to up the amount of flow in the display an extra couple hundred gallons or run a couple more outlets plus run a small line to a refugium above the tank. I have an Ampmaster 4700 running on a closed loop right now and I love it but it's an inline pump.

red devil pump on a google search came up with a penis pump, ruth this confuses me

Ruth 04-21-2006 01:20 AM

HeHeHe!
Try this webpage

You have to go to the "shop" and then water pumps and then Red dragon. Maybe I'll have to try that google thing - did it say if it's reef safe?
