Just found the web site a few minutes ago. Thought I would sy Hi!
I have been chatting on The Reef Tank for the last couple of months, while looking for a Canadian site. |
Morning and welcome to the board.

Thanks, I don't know why I had such a difficult time finding a Canadian site, but it will be good to talk to local reefers. I just set my tank up in sept/05 so I am Newbe!

Looks like you have some pvc returns coming up from the bottom?
|
Welcome to the board!
Did you have your reef tank when you were in Grande Prairie? |
Ya I don't know if it great or bad, the water movment is really good, suspends uglies really well, I have the return choked back in order to keep the sand in place, the down side is, if the check valves ever fails i will loose the tank. My sump is drilled 3 inches from the top with a drain line to the house sewer.
|
I would definately go with more than 1 check valve then.
Even better, run those on a closed loop instead of as part of the sump, then you can't have that problem. |

Sorry the hear that  Welcome to the board |
Ya, but, the CLS is well below the water line as well. I thought about this for some time and the idea was to move the water from the bottom of the tank upward and out the overflow. The water surface has really good motion and oxygen levels are always good, and dead spot a minimal, for a DSB. The idea works well, just got to make sure the valves due. There are two of them, and I consider checking the rubber seals and or having to replace the valves, part of the maintenace of the tank.
By no means was this my idea, nor would i take credit for it,right or wrong, I saw it in a tank online from a guy in the UK and also in a tank in Winnipeg. |
Thanks for your comforting:biggrin: Murminator, as I am a Oilers fan!
