Awesome looking clams! I dont have a good picture of my Crocea, so I'll get a good one of it, as well as my squamosa.

For now, here is a pic of my crocea with a rather un-intelligent clown goby I used to have:

Above and below are of one of my crocea's. A little on the plain side compared to some of the clams on this thread.

Hey Deb

Harv's been begging for a gold teardrop for ages, and the clam wasn't real happy in the sandbed, nowhere low flow enough to extend. And would never attach anywhere in the rockwork. Saw him at harvs the other day and the little guy looks beautiful.

I will however never be parting with the gold striped purple maxi :D

Beermaster 03-08-2006 12:47 PM

Josh that wasnt that little one that you had was it?

GMGQ 03-08-2006 04:11 PM

Deb that clam is a knockout - you always seem to find some really unique things. Where did you score that beauty?

My showpiece for sure. They wouldn't sell it to me but I brought in the big guns.....  Came from Big Als in Vancouver. Both stores had awesome clams. And I figured I'd be paying more....so I think it was a score, and Rich needs free beers for a while now...

Ruth 04-04-2006 04:21 AM

Ok now seeing this tank i wanna cry , Man why did i tear this tank part...

OCDP 04-05-2006 12:27 AM

Nice clam collection there Mike.

I am going to go get myself a Crocea right now, I'll post pics shortly

niloc16 04-05-2006 12:33 AM

the tank looks awesome. i could see why you question taking it apart. this is probably a stupid question for you guys but i'm a rookie and research the hell out of everything i can. clams are a definite attraction for me but i currently have a flame angel, sixline wrasse, 2 chromis and a goby, soon to get a gold band marroon clown, will any of these be a problem for a clam. from what i've researched clams should be in a tank without fish just corals or just very docile fish. any help would be awesome

OCDP 04-05-2006 12:36 AM

IMO & IME Flames will take a nip at the mantle (the colourful part of the clam) .. mine did anyhow. I think (key word: think) if you were to keep his belly real full all the time.. the chances would be minimal. I couldn't keep feeding mine all the time due to my tank size.. but , if your really want one.. go take a shot at it. If you notice him taking an attraction to it, cover the clam with something (like a strawberry basket thingy, or something along those lines) and find another home for it. This way, you can see whether or not it will nip. It might not nip right away, it may in time.. just be prepared to cover it up and make alternative arrangements for it.

Of course, all of this is my opinion!

Wow, nice clam. Now how does someone from Calgary get the best clam located in Vancouver? How'd I not see that one before you did?

Nice clam Deb.

OCDP 04-06-2006 12:24 AM

Sheesh, I dunno if it's worth posting my new one after Deb's post.... but here it is. The mantle isn't fully extended yet. I think it's still acclimating, but it's getting there.
