Interested in Kelloggii Seahorses?

If so, I know someone that is selling these guys for $35 USD a piece. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but i do know the quality that he has. They are all tank raised and doing extremely well. He currently has 10 in stock as we speak and all eating pe mysis. If you are interested, please contact me and i will pass along his information to you.

I am not interested in buying any, but could you please tell us how large these SHs get, and if they are tropical, temparate or cold water species?

Thanks

SerLunchbox 02-25-2006 11:14 PM

they get to about 8 inches and i believe cold water. They prefer the following conditions: 72-78°F; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4; dKH 8-12

More information on them can be found at : http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=2419

Only to answer your question Bev, and please correct me if I am wrong (quote Rudie Kuiter book on seahorses).
They are more sub-tropical but can be found in tropic around southern Japan.
Grow to 25-28 cm (8-10in).

Would require a fairly large tank I would imagine.
Very nice colours to them yellow to black and molted versions in between.

Thanks for the link

SHs need three times their body height to successfully complete their mating dances. A 16" high tank, as suggested on the webpage, will not fit their needs over the long term.

The H. whitei we used to keep required the same tank temps as the H. kelloggii. We didn't have a chiller for use in summer, which I think is imperative for temperate water species, but we did use our air conditioner a lot.

So, anybody coming to Vancouver anytime soon? If so, I'd love to get 2 pairs. <I know, wishful thinking, but never hurts to ask>

In the process of plumbing in 2 65g tanks, side by side & one will most likely become a seahorse tank.

Saw lots of shs at BA in Burnaby yesterday but they're wild caughts!!! Hope buyers know how poor is the survival rates of WC seahorses.

I currently have 10 more left so if interested please pm me.

SerLunchbox 02-26-2006 03:57 AM

I might add that there is definately interest and the total 10 can be in Calgary overnight. Together at a reduced shipping cost ... great benefit there.

Veng68 02-26-2006 05:41 AM

Is fragtraders in Canada?

Cheers,

Hi Guys,

I will tank 2 for sure but I just wanted to let you know I will be in Mexico next week for the week(I am leaving tonight). So if you order them before I get back I will take 2 for sure and pay who ever back after nextweek. But I need to keep it under $150CAD with shipping and taxes for 2 Kellggii's.

Thanks
