even though im risking penis jokes what the heck is that thing anyway and how are you gonna catch a goby with it?

sumpfinfishe 02-14-2006 04:53 AM

It's a 6" piece of acrylic tubing with cut slots. I simply throw in some bait and lay it down in front of the gobie's burrow. Hopefully after a few days the goby will venture inside. Then while I see him inside the tube I pull on the fishing line that's attached to the top of the tube. Most of the water will drain out, yet leaving about 2" in the bottom to keep the goby wet until I place him in a pail and off to the LFS

There's tons of fish trap designs out there, got this one off the net.
It wouldn't work too well for most fish but for bottom dwellers it should do just fine.

here's the link http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/fis...uariumtrap.htm

Can you fill us in on how the add on works for the maxijet? Does water flow make it turn? How much?

The Flo by Hydor, is a 360*rotating water deflector that can be attached to most powerheads(comes with 4 different attachment fittings). The unit sells for about $25 and has a two year guarantee. This should mix up the flow in my tank especially considering that the MJ1200 also crosses the path of my two returns which run via a SCWD. Also these units run like a dream, very smooth directional turns that would make you think it's got Swiss bearings instead of plastic gears!
