Hi Sarah,

It looks like a palythoa zoo. Not Aptasia. :)

sumpfinfishe 02-11-2006 08:49 PM

Looks to me like Mojano or Aptasia, either way blast it with some kalkwasser and hot water:twised:

Ruth 02-11-2006 08:55 PM

Look like a Mojano anemone to me.

Kabong 02-11-2006 09:00 PM

Im voting palythoa,
But a larger Pic whould make it easier to confirm.

Kill it before it spreads!

deep6er 02-11-2006 10:06 PM

I think I see a bubble algae too.

Chaloupa 02-11-2006 10:28 PM

Thanks guys for all the info! Will kill it right away. and YES deep6er that is bubble algae and I have lots to share so send me your address!

It's not a mojano or aptasia. But if you feel it's not reef friendly do what you must. I have seen both first hand and can tell you it's niether. Mojano's have much thicker digit fingers. Although it might be a type of anemonie good or bad is hard to say without actually seeing it first hand. I have a wild colony of Palythoa's that look exactly like that but are much greener and of course reef safe.

HTH.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 02-12-2006 07:16 AM

True. Majano looks like small green & pink bubble tip anemones.

Chaloupa 02-12-2006 07:16 AM

Well....have not killed it yet...am getting mixed stuff. It does seem to irritate the neighbouring zoos....will think on this! THANKS!.... If anyone else has any info...bring it on!

Trumpet Anemone Aiptasia mutabilis? Looks kinda like this species of pest anemone. I find it usually comes on imported zoo rocks.

It closely looks like a palythoa but like I said it still may be a pest anemonie of some sort. If it is irritating the other zoos then I would would nuke it. Better safe than sorry.

How are all your tanks doing Sarah??? Any new additions??

deacon hemp 02-12-2006 10:10 PM

Hey sarah...I belive this came from a frag from me? :( I have a few of them still and they do multiply but at a slow rate,so i'd nuke it. Sorry.

Chaloupa 02-13-2006 05:15 AM

Hey "Deacon"-no worries....these things happen. It has been nuked and it was a bit of a good thing as it made me really look at my tank and I found a bit of a "problem" that I may not have noticed had this not been there....hopefully my new "problem" will be solved by a quick purchase from J&L's~ And Callum.....PM being sent your way on our fishies, tanks, new tanks, tank for sale, and of course family! Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply! Sarah
