Did you transfer from one tank to another or is that from scratch 3 months?

GMGQ 12-24-2005 06:58 AM

I upload the pics to my friends website, then link them to here.

You can click on my profile, then click on my Homepage to get to the site.

The original plan was to start from scratch. Then when I was almost ready, a friend of mine suddenly got into school on the island, so he decided to take apart his tank (since his parents wouldnt be able to take care of it while he was away).

Long story short, I got about 70lbs his LR and a bunch of his corals at the same time. The transition was relatively painless for the corals. I had a bit of an algae bloom and a bout with cyano, but things are good now.

(I guess I shoulda put an Astrix next to "3 months old*").

So I've started a new BLOG website to log my tank's progress. It sort of ties in all the numerous pictures I take, so that you're not just browsing through such a big gallery.

very nice what are you dosing with? or do you have a calc reator?

addam4208283 04-14-2006 12:03 PM

WOW. nice tank. when you place the coral that are mounted to the little disc do you just sit them down on the LR, or do you glue them down? the hippo looks great as well.

nice tank!

I started running a calcium reactor in january (got it on boxing day). Definitely need it for all the SPS!

If I'm sure the puck is relatively stable and wont go anywhere, then I wont glue it. But recently I've had a few things fall, so I'm starting to put a dab of superglue on the bottom, so that it is attached to the LR. Superglue is relatively easy to chip off if i ever decide to move it. I'm learning it's better safe than sorry.

I think the main culprits are my turbo snails. They're HUGE and they take no prisoners :S
