Welcome!!!

NanoReef 11-01-2005 02:50 AM

Thanks!!! ok here is a little about my tank. i have a 20 gallon with 55 watt power compac (for now!) about 25 pounds of live rock, 6 different kinds of zoanthids, 2 different button polyps, a bubble tip anemone, some leathers, (toadstool, fine finger), 3 different ricordia, and 1 HUGE feather duster, and a sun coral. 2 percs, a manderin dragonette, and a 6 line wrasse, also, about 20 snails, (turbo and nisariouss) a blue starfish and a emerald crab.
No sump, just an Aquaclear 300 and a Hagen 150 powerhead with a rotating water deflector.
Thats pretty much it! i am soon going to be setting up my 90 gallon. This is going to happen in about 2 months, (if everything runs on schedual!!!)

Also, can i post pictures right here or do i have to put them on the "photo gallery"????
Thanks

muck 11-01-2005 04:11 AM

How long has the 20G been setup?

Delphinus 11-01-2005 05:11 AM

Welcome to Canreef.

Nope, you can post pictures from anywhere. The photo gallery is offered to host space for photos. You are welcome to use it, but not obligated.

Shy_Koi 11-01-2005 06:16 AM

NanoReef 11-01-2005 04:36 PM

nope i cant do it!!! or do you just have to copy and paste them to the search bar??? im confused! im sorry!

christyf5 11-01-2005 04:45 PM

I can't seem to get it to work either. I don't know whats wrong with it. The photo gallery was crabby for me last night as well.

I wonder if its because the files are .bmp and not .jpg

Anyways, I've edited your post to show it as a link so at least people can see it that way

NanoReef 11-01-2005 04:51 PM

thanks, am i doing it right anyway???

christyf5 11-01-2005 04:52 PM

yes you're doing it right, it just doesn't seem to be working.

Bob I 11-01-2005 04:53 PM

I have recently started posting pictures at Photobucket.com I have found it very easy to do (if I can do it, it has to be easy  )

NanoReef 11-01-2005 05:00 PM

ok so hopefuly it works soon, im just wondering how to post just a picture on here that isnt a link?

muck 11-01-2005 05:18 PM

Im pretty sure the forum software won't support bmp files..
Convert it to a .jpg or you will have to use links like Christy changed it to.

I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at  In essence the picture has to be hosted somewhere. Then you provide a link to the picture. You can't post it on the board directly.

The picture appears as a link when you are copying and pasting it to your post. In essence the [img] tags tell the forum software where to find it and posts it as a photo. Because (I think) your photos are uploaded as bmp instead of jpg I think the software gets confused and doesn't point it to the photo.

I think

Delphinus 11-01-2005 05:52 PM

Yeah you guys are correct, this version of the board software doesn't support imbedded .bmp format; it needs to be a .jpg format for now. When we switch over to vbulletin though, then .bmp files can be imbedded once again. (I'm not sure when exactly we are going to do the migration but let me just say it will be "RealSoonNow(tm)")

NanoReef 11-01-2005 06:23 PM

ok lets try this again!

You linked to the thumbnail picture.. If you just deleted the "-thumb" off the end of your url it will post actual size.

NanoReef 11-02-2005 04:30 PM

I was hoping that someone with more experience would answer this but I'll suggest that a variety is always good. Who'd want a ham sandwich every day? I'd suggest trying a few different things, see what it likes. Definitely larger meatier items would be best (ie, don't stuff him full of brine shrimp or flake or something).

As for the photos. If you are uploading them here to the photo gallery, the maximum size is about 800x600 I think.

Christy :)

Bob I 11-02-2005 04:37 PM

I would use the logic that a Suncoral eats whatever floats by in the wild. Therefore whatever you feed it would be fine if it consumes it.
As to photo size. I always resize mine to 640X480. That seems to be acceptable.

NanoReef 11-02-2005 04:46 PM

great thanks!!! by the way, Shy_Koi, you dont happen to have anything to trade or sell do ya???? im always looking for somthing new!!!

NanoReef 11-02-2005 06:33 PM

here is my tank, i cant get rid of the hot spots, how can i avoid them???
Let me know what you think.

christyf5 11-02-2005 07:00 PM

I find tank pics work best without the flash.

NanoReef 11-02-2005 07:02 PM

i do too, however the tripod always mooves on me!!! also, should there be back lighting???

SeaHorse_Fanatic 11-02-2005 07:03 PM

Yup, if you're gonna take pics of your tank, have as much lighting on as possible (tank & room). Then you will hopefully not have to use the flash on your camera. Sometimes, I have to reposition myself or my camera to get enough light.

Anthony
