CBB's around town...?
Anybody see any CBB's around town? I just want a heads up before I drive all over the city!
Thanks, |
I saw a lot of CBB's in very good condition at J & L's if you want to have them shipped.
Well lucky for you i drove all over the city yesturday. I only came a cross two one at wais 44 dollars which is alot for this butterfly and one at oceans for 34 which i bought.
$34 is still lots haha.
How much do CBB's usually go for then? $25?
Big als was selling them for 25 when they had them.
$25 is what they should be. Let's put it this way, the cost of this fish is NOT $17.50+.
$25 is a deal.
This is off topic, but has anyone kept one for longer that 4-5 months. From what I'v read, I haven't heard much of long term success with these fish. It seem as though they end up dead regardless of healthy specimen eating and all. Through my experiences, they have died after eating all the aiptasias and feather dusters. I initially thought that due to the reason that they didn't eat prepared food they sucummed to malnutrition, but that's may not be the only reason. I've heard of my instances where the fish readily eats frozen and is overall healthy but still dies after a few months. There must be something else missing in it's diet.   I wonder what people are feeding them to keep them long term. |
I have had mine three months or so, it is doing great.
I made sure it was eating in the store. Also haveing a lot of life in the tank helps, it finds lots to eat besides the frozen mysis I feed it. |
I had Bandit for over a year in a 50gal, then he went to a bigger tank. Got him at Wai's for about $35, which I consider a pretty good price for a healthy fish that survives. No sense in replacing bargain fish every few months.
http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...ndit_final.jpg I agree with Will, a varied diet of meaty foods seems to help. |
Nice fish  I've never seen one so vuluptuous as Bandit. Did yours eat aiptasia and such?
Is it pretty much a given that a CBB will eat aiptasia?
No, mine didn't eat aiptasia at all. It was a good eater of frozen mysis but ended up in someone elses tank and I believe it's demise was in a carpet anemone.
I've had a few, healthy, eating well, then dead, around the 5-6 month period, could be diet, or maybe there still using cyanide which eventually just catches up with this type of fish.
Bandit ate about 3 dozen aiptasia (and of course all featherdusters), and learned quickly to eat PE mysis. I can't help but think there was something missing from his diet tho, even if he did eat very well...
He also was killed in his new home. Lesson: if you get one of these doing well, hang on to it! |
bump, anyone seen any around this week?
