There are many a theory of how to visually sex Bangaiis, but nothing conclusive (or scientific I might add)

The only sure fire way is to put an adult into a tank with a known male. If they fight, you got a he. If they get along, you got a she. Pretty simple.

As far as my two adults, the female tends to be a bit bigger, but that is likely a product of reproduction as the male goes for weeks without eating while holding eggs. The male does have a more squared off jawline than the female, and I've heard that the males tend to have a longer caudial (sp?) fin, but both my adults had most of that particular fin nipped off when I got them, so not a real indicator for me.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help, but you're welcome to bring him by anytime and see if he/she gets killed or courted by my male!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">um.. hmm would a male go after him right away if he was a male? if so you could get him out quick hehe..

I imagian that there would have to be a female present befor two males would go nuts also...
