they are Ciliopagurus strigatus crabs.

Scavenger 07-18-2005 01:03 AM

these appear to be scarlett hermet crabs. They are great detrivours. I would like to state however, that no matter how "cool" and organism looks in the store, please! please!!! please!!!!, research and learn before buying! Why buy a critter that you know nothing about, other than it looks cool!

I stand corrected on species, but not principal! Know before you buy!
I'm glad they are doing well and hope you enjoy them for a long time to come. They do look cool, and I hope they continue to be so.

Where did you get those?

Funky_Fish14 07-18-2005 09:31 AM

I believe the common name for those is Halloween Hermit Crabs.

I had one of those years ago, no more harmful than a scarlet - probably a little better. Sure liked it  I should go see if they have more.
