Mantis
Attention people of Calgary or even Edmonton.
If you ever find a mantis shrimp in your tank, Do Not Kill it. I am interested in a small mantis only tank. I will pick up. Please let me know what you find! Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure I have one but catching it is another issue.

Iam sure I have one, it did all my hermits in a couple of weeks a go.
I still havint seen him though. Any one know how to catch one in a 5.5g tank? |
How I caught mine was you find his cave and do a fresh water dip on the rock for about 5min. After I pulled the rock out he jumped out and I had myself a mantis.

I dont see a cave, I have heard of a pop bottle trap that works but Iam not sure how to get a po bottle in to my tank and have room for any thing else. Any one have any ideas?
outtafocus If I manage to catch mine you can have him. Iam in Calgary. |
It might be a hole in one of the rocks. Or even a space between the rock & the sand he likes to hide at. It depends on the LR you have in your tank.

Excellant, just keep me posted luke.
And any one else! |
Big als in calgary has a gorgeous little mantis right now, about 4 in long or so.
|
The cooling system in my car crapped out the other day, so I am stuck at home with a perfectly good work truck just sitting outside. I will not break company rules and drive it after work hours.
I really doubt I can get down there before some one else buys it. Thanks for the tip sean |
Hey I was in Big Als on friday and I didint see the mantis they had.
I tried all weekend to catch the one in my tank, but I think he might of died, he didint even touch the food that I left in the trap. Or he got smart and knows what the plan is. L |
I wont be able to deal with a mantis right now. I must use that tank as a QT for my clowns.
But keep me in mind if you find one. |
