Venting MH canopy
Hey,
I'd like to vent my MH canopy and throw all the exaust heatout the window this summer using 4" cloths dryer ducting. The problem I have right now is finding a piece that will attatch the ducting to a standard 4" muffin fan securly. Anyone know where I might be able to get something like this? Thanks in advance. |

Hello Jack,
I had dual 4" muffin fans on the old canopy vented to outside, while it did work ok... there is a serious drop off in efficiency if you are using the fans to "pull or push ", they are next to usless for that purpose. For an example, the dual fans after a run of about 8', could barley hold a 5 dollar bill on the inside of my canopy intake. So, i have arranged for a 4" inline blower fan for the new canopy, they are a bit pricey ($180 for a variable speed and 120 cfm) but are much better suited for that purpose. They also are made to be just slid in to your ducting and hose clamped. Most hydroponic outfits will carry them. Do a google search for centrifugal inline fans. HTH,Marc. |
Is there any dust collector parts/fittings that may suit your ideas? Maybe you can find something at say the BusyBee web site.
Vaguely remember seeing inline duct blowers at Princess Auto. However they are drawing mental pictures that include noisey sounds effects. |
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I'll dig around a bit on my day off tomorrow and see what I can find.
I figured I'd have to add another fan. Hope the inline blowers aren't too noisey. |
Jack,
Mine will be coming today, i will let you know if they are noisey at all. Marc. |
Thanks Marc.

From Home Depot, 5" takeoff on a 7" fan. Might have smaller takeoffs.

What about a bathroom style venting fan? They should be pretty quiet and are made for that purpose. Or is that what you are refering to already?

Mark, that's the exact style I'm looking for. 7" fan though.. hrm. I'll have a look at Home Depot and see what I can come up with.
I really want to vent this hot air outside. |

Oh, sorry Steve. Pictures speak 1000 words.

PRINCESS AUTO also sells duct fans and Rheostats. HTH

Sorry i took so long Jack to get a pic...
It is better than i had hoped, it is quiet as can be, mounted rigid to the ceiling, and directly below my bed upstairs...i cant hear a thing. I am now contemplating buying a 6" instead of my squirrel fan to exhaust humidity. http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...ls_006-med.jpg Marc. |
We're Canadian... Duct Tape
