Albert's SUPER picture thread - !!! (56k Warning)

I've decided that it would be easier to just toss all my pics into one thread for everyone. Not all these pics are from my tanks, but most are. I'll update new pics here. Hope everyone likes these -- I also hope this doesn't suck up too much bandwidth (lemme know if it does).

We'll start with my recently deceased cuttlefish    :

Snails and stuff:

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...oneyCowrie.jpg

Money Cowries - I've got five of these things in my tank and every month or so, the I can always find the big one huddled over a clutch of eggs by my overflow. Pretty cool animals.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 06-12-2005 05:32 AM

Beautiful collection Albert. Especially like your bright red Blastomussa & cuttlefish. That's too bad about the pump incident. I'd love to try a cuttlefish one day.

Anthony

Very nice looking pics, love the zoos.

Gools 06-12-2005 01:25 PM

how is that gorgonian, in terms of care? I heard ones with coloured polyps are hard to keep. I would love to try one but very lery. Thanks

Thanks!

Yeah, seemed pretty easy to keep as long as there was a constant feeder shrimp supply. I even got him to take a mysid shrimp once.

Bugger.

Btw, how fast does that super orange one grow?

I haven't had any problems with it. I'm using Cyclopeeze, DT's phyto and DT's oyster eggs to feed the thing. Thusfar, I haven't noticed any tissue degradation or recessed polyps. I've only had it for a week though and am keeping my fingers crossed.

OCDP 06-12-2005 05:13 PM

very nice

Heh, truth be told, my tank has this "trim" of coraline around the edge that looks really crappy. I know I should scrape it off, but I don't have a razor at my house so no go.

OCDP 06-13-2005 05:11 PM

Yeah I want a full tank shot

Chad 06-13-2005 05:15 PM

I tired one of those gorgonians a long time ago, no matter how much I fed it, it still slowly died.

Its too bad, they are gorgeous, but I think Samw has had great success with his!! whats your secret sam!!

ungp 06-13-2005 10:11 PM

nice looking pics...

Snappy 06-14-2005 02:54 AM

Lookin' great Albert.
How do you get so many pics packed into this site? I can only ever get about 6 before Canreef tells me I'm out of alotted space.
Nice pic's, good job. Now I know where the premium livestock goes and why there is usually not much left by the time I get to the store.
Greg
PS next time I come to the store I'll bring you a razer blade scraper.

Two brain corals

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...sh/Anthias.jpg

And here's the wrasse I did end up taking home:

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...Chlorourus.jpg

Cheilinus chlorourus aka. My arrowhead wrasse substitute.

albert_dao 06-15-2005 06:59 PM

Today's offerings:

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...PurpleAcan.jpg

I really need to take one of these home. Get my dose of "trendy" corals, haw haw haw.

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler.../PinkBrain.jpg

Pink brain thing.

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...PS/NotSure.jpg

Does anyone have any idea what this coral is?

http://www.cichlids.ca/images/galler...lastamusa2.jpg

Another blasto from the store.

OCDP 06-15-2005 07:22 PM

take that anthias home! what an awesome color

Funky_Fish14 06-15-2005 09:38 PM

I like your EE's, Acans, and Blastos! Also, your gobies, crustaceans, and annemones(and the GS maroon) look great!

Also that un-identified coral looks like some sort of Favia sp. IMO.

I don't think it's Favia or Favites. The growth is wrong. The polyp looks more like a Blasto or even Candy Cane, but again, growth is wrong.

Hey Albert,

Yeah almost looks eactly like my Tonga or Bullseye Mushrooms, same colors. Thats only if its soft though.

Most likely since there corals are cramed together and is a stony coral its most definately a Swollen Brain Coral - Blastomussa wellsi

I know what you mean Albert, I have a similar coral. The only way I describe it is a branching brain. Looks like a cluster of small brain corals that grow like a candy coral, mine are green too. My avatar shows a close up of one of the heads.

OCDP 06-22-2005 06:34 PM

FYI Danny, I picked up that "brain" from Golds... and it was sold to me as a brain with 4 - 5 heads.

danny zubot 06-22-2005 06:37 PM

Ya I know, it just doesn't seem to fit into the usual image of a brain.

OCDP 06-22-2005 06:45 PM

No, I agree.. I was just saying, FWIW ... that's how it was sold to me!
